Re: DDReam Studio - a revolutionary way to sync/step simfiles

    thanks.

96th notes - Would it change your mind if I said that every other 192nd note is a 96th note?

128th notes - For the longest time I have said that due to technical limitations, the SM file format inherently does not fully support 128th notes. For the longest time nobody has said I was wrong. Therefore, I'll maintain that argument.

autoplay - Yeah, I can do that, but it'll take a bit of work. I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth it to make autoplay simulate it accurately when ddream was never meant to be an accurate simulation.

well for the 96th's i would rather hit the button once than twice (just a personal preferance) but other than that it's okay if you can't add 128ths, 192nd's is probably accurate enough.
also that autoplay deal would be tight, thanks for considering man ^_^

Problem is that moving up and down with the cursor on 192nds is hella slow. If you only need 96ths for something it's ideal to have that double speed in place. It would be like saying 32nd snap isn't needed because 64th snap can handle any 32nd note and more

If you need 128ths double the bpm and use 64ths, when you import to .sm it can only handle 192nds anyway
e: alternatively multiply bpm by 2/3, that'll let you step 128ths as straight 192nds, or 4/3 for straight 96ths

That's all true, and I'll add 96ths if people use it often enough to justify it (and see below). Not having a 4th snap because there is an 8th snap would just be foolish, but I dont think it's the same when youre thinking 192nds vs. 96ths.

I dont recall the SM 4 editor had 96ths (it seemed to go from 64ths to 192nds). That seems to be the reason I initially skipped 96ths as well. I dont have Sm4 installed right now, so I cant verify... If I am wrong, let me know, and that would be bigger motivation to add 96ths.

I was referring to supporting 128ths straight out. This is a hack. edit: But thanks for pointing that out, I didnt think of that initially.

I'm aware it's a hack, but if you must have 128ths I'm suggesting a way for them to visually be different from 64ths

e: No, SM 4 has no 96th snap, but it should. Leaving it out of your program because it leaves it out too is a fallacy

              All right you win.

              Beta3 is out
              + 96th note snap
              + combos increment correctly

If you have to use 128nds I'd say you mischoose the whole BPM setting anyway

Meh--if the purpose of the program is to sync for Stepmania, and SM doesn't physically have it, I wouldn't have really asked for it to happen. Jyris did it on his own though, so it's all good, I guess. I don't know if FFR can handle 96ths since any 192nds (or assumed past 64ths?) are white colored anyway.

The bigger problem is: even if DDream studio can handle 96ths, if Stepmania sees them, it will automatically move them to the nearest snap. Mathematically thinking about this, I think it would put them all back to 64ths anyway.

Still pretty cool that you have the 96th snap in the program though. Keep up the good work on this program, Jyris!

Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and good feedback.

TC Halogen - It appears that SM will interpret 96th notes correctly, and will not round to the nearest 64th. I have 3.9 final so that it might have supported 96ths by then.

However, it also appears that the only way to "edit" 96th notes from within SM is to use 4.0 and set it to 192nd note snap, and edit every other 192nd (which equals a 96th).

let me know if you experience anything different...

Yeah, give me another week or two to fix that. Currently, autoplay only works for dance-single.
