Ok listen up,recently people have been complaining about theyre stepmania is out of date or they want the new one or their songs dont work here is the info for the current version and how to insert songs.
Latest Version:
Instructions: Download it from one of the FTP/Mirror Sites.
Then install it.
Downloading songs for your Stepmania Simulator:
Bemani is the most commonly used site for your songs needs. When you get to the site click on SIMFILES on the left part of the page then choose Originals at the middle of the page. There are other sites for songs as well as Arch0wls and Hyrogashi's Originals.
Arch0wls Originals: *removed*/originals/
Hyro's Originals : At Arch's Site also.
After downloading some songs off of either of those sites you must put them into a specific folder for them to appear in your simulator to play them.
Instructions to put songs into simulator:
First off UNZIP your song. Take the folder and CUT it.
Go to My Computer
Go to Drive C
Go to Program Files
Find the folder named Stepmania3.9Alpha7
Find the folder named SONGS,Open that folder.
Now you have a choice to create folders for (i.e:Categories,Favorites)
If you choose not to do so an just want to hurry up and play then do the following. If you want to create categories read the section named Categories & Favorites below.
Alright you've chosen not to make a specific category folder do the following to instantly play your song(s)
PASTE your folder you cut earlier into the SONGS folder you are in now.
Now that you have done that with your first song test to see if it has worked. After pasting it open the simulator from the Desktop Icon. When it loads hit enter 1 time.Now it should give you options to play go into options and such,look at the top left. It should say 1 song in 1 group. If it doesnt say something like that,then redo the whole processs.
Categories & Favorites
This is the info for people who want to categorize their songs according to Type,Artist and such.
Go into the StepMania\Songs you should see nothing but a notepad (DO NOT TOUCH NOTEPAD)
Now create a folder. Rename your folder to whatever songs will be placed there. Rock for rock songs,Pop for pop songs and so on.
Now go into that folder and Cut & Paste your songs into that folder which are POP based songs.
Now you say to yourself.. Where to my Favorites go?!?!?! Well just hit BACK on the browser. You should see your first folder made for your first category. Repeat the previous processs
Create Folder.Rename it to Favorites. Go into it. Cut & Paste your song folders into it.
There you have it,all your basic information,if your having technical difficulties that you cannot relate to,I suggest PM'ing Jewpin,Synth,Arch and the gang.
(NOTE: You have to reload your simulator every time you put a new song in)
