    I was using C543, but I've gone up to C600. I believe my accuracy has improved by doing so.

      I've been playing 1 handed at C700 for a while now, I think I am going to go down to 630-645ish.

        After being able to clear song like black dragon in C400 I switched to C500, I improved tremendously but I kinda feel higher speed mods are like cheating or are they really? Anyone have opinion on this?

          I wouldn't think higher speed mods would be cheating. But I haven't played SM in a while, as I've been too busy playing MAPLE STORY -_-

            that's true, the latest hard songs are just made for Cmods because at how fast they are, you won't be able to tell them apart at all because they'd be practically on top of each other in 1x etc and only way to tell is trusting music. Maybe some insane pros can /shrug

              fast songs aren't meant for speed mods. they're meant to be read at a fast scroll rate. that's why they have a high foot rating. cmods aren't cheating. if you suck at slow downs and speed ups, then use it. sheesh. if it's there in the game for you to use, it's not really cheating. That's like saying using potions in final fantasy is cheating.

                Yeah, and like using 5-10 White Potions to keep yourself alive while fighting 5-10 monsters at a time in Maple Story is cheating -_-

                Alot of stuff is sometimes considered cheating. Consider the above something I do sometimes lol.

                  that's not cheating, that's survival. if you need to use a cmod to survive a song, damnit, do it, do whatever it takes, just get it done without screwing up the ini and judge unless you're putting it higher. then you're just screwing yourself over. i only played maple story once. didn't like it. mushrooms kept killing me. bah.

                        not really, 500 to 600 was not a hard transition for me since I had been playing songs on 3x when I didn't have cmods. Once you get used to that speed you can push it. I can play 650 easily, 700 for most but don't play sm enough anymore to get better.

                          noob question...

                          How can you change the C mods of the system? Like if I wanted to change C400 to C600, how would I go about doing that?

                            Step 1 -Getting To metric file-

                            -This step is plan and simple. The first thing you have to do is locate your stepmania folder. The most common place for this inside the programs folder in the C drive. Inside of the stepmania program folder there are more seperate folders. We need to locate the folder called "themes" once you have found the themes folder click on the defualt theme folder to find the metrics.

                            Step 2 -Finding And Changing Speed Mods-

                            -Now click on the "metrics" file or open it with textpad. Once inside the doc. hold ctrl and press F. If you didnt already know this is the text search for most programs. Inside the text find type in C4 and click find. This will bring you to the section of the metrics that is the speed mods. The text here should look similar to this.

                            [ScreenOptionsMaster]
                            Speed=11
                            SpeedDefault=mod,1x
                            Speed,1=mod,0.25x;name,x0.25
                            Speed,2=mod,0.50x;name,x0.50
                            Speed,3=mod,0.75x;name,x0.75
                            Speed,4=mod,1x;name,x1
                            Speed,5=mod,1.5x;name,x1.5
                            Speed,6=mod,2x;name,x2
                            Speed,7=mod,3x;name,x3
                            Speed,8=mod,4x;name,x4
                            Speed,9=mod,8x;name,x8
                            Speed,10=mod,C200;name,C200
                            Speed,11=mod,C400;name,C400

                            -If it doesnt look anything like this then im sorry but your a complete moron. Ok now to change the text to what you want. Notice above that the number of the speed goes up from 1-11 no matter what you change it still needs to go in order. If you create more then 11 speed mods you will need to change the speed=11 at the top to the number of speed mods you have. Now here is an example of a common edited speed mod text.

                            [ScreenOptionsMaster]
                            Speed=12
                            SpeedDefault=mod,1x
                            Speed,1=mod,1x;name,x1
                            Speed,2=mod,1.5x;name,x1.5
                            Speed,3=mod,2x;name,x2
                            Speed,4=mod,2.5x;name,x2.5
                            Speed,5=mod,3x;name,x3
                            Speed,6=mod,4x;name,x4
                            Speed,7=mod,8x;name,x8
                            Speed,8=mod,C200;name,C200
                            Speed,9=mod,C300;name,C300
                            Speed,10=mod,C400;name,C400
                            Speed,11=mod,C500;name,C500
                            Speed,12=mod,C600;name,C600

                            Step 3 -Changing the language file-

                            -Your not done yet just because you changed the metrics, there is one more step to be done before you can play with your new mods. Inside the themes folder is yet another folder called languages. Click on this folder and open the text doc. called "english". Yet again you shall need to apply the amazing text find abaility. If you have already forgotten this is done by holding ctrl and pressing F. Yet again type in C4 and hit find. It will come up with a section that looks like this.

                            x0.25=x0.25
                            x0.50=x0.50
                            x0.75=x0.75
                            x1=x1
                            x1.5=x1.5
                            x2=x2
                            x3=x3
                            x4=x4
                            x5=x5
                            x8=x8
                            C200=C200
                            C400=C400

                            -This part is very simple so dont be stupid. All you have to do is type out exactly what it says above for your custom mods. The text on the right is what the text will appear inside the game. If you want to be interesting with this you could name a Cmod somthing diffrrent Then C600 or whatever it is. Here is an example of this.

                            C600=Cheese

                            -Inside of the game you will select the mod called cheese and it will be C600 like you assigned it. Now if you want to be simple about this just type out the mods normally. Here is an example.

                            x1=x1
                            x1.5=x1.5
                            x2=x2
                            x2.5=x2.5
                            x3=x3
                            x4=x4
                            x5=x5
                            x8=x8
                            C200=C200
                            C300=C300
                            C400=C400
                            C500=C500
                            C600=C600

                            Step 4 -Entering the game and testing your mods-

                            -This part is common sense but just go into the stepmania program and test to see if you get any errors about your new speeds mods. If you get errors first reread the guide or Message me and i will help you personally.

                                Izzy, that info was very helpful . Now, I'm wondering, is this possible while using a different theme, rather than the default? I want to try it, but I want to check with you first.
