    -blind-'s "Ultimate Keyboard Competition" (SMO)

I was told by someone on the Stepmania Online forums to post this here, in the hopes of getting some new people involved.

To participate in this contest, download StepMania Online (stepmaniaonline.com) and sign up for the forums and all that jazz.

Below are the limited details thusfar.

    --------------------------------------
So, I've been toying with the idea as of late of really throwing one of the biggest events on SMO possible.

Considering the fact that SMO hasn't had an event in awhile, I was thinking about making a serious venture into the idea. What I mean by "serious venture" is that SMO IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. So why not have a bit of a competition?

What I plan to do is work on the framework for the competition within the coming week or so. What I have in my mind will span an entire week of events, and have 2 classes.

This is no joke, folks. I'm thinking of ways to really break new ground, and attempt to get a lot of people interested.

For the moment, however, this is merely just a flickering thought within my mind and I am open to some intelligent suggestions as to things you would like to see in an event.

I do plan to do something a bit different with the ranking system of a "tournament", as well. No elimination BS. I'm thinking about making a small webpage to post a small points total/online ranking. Furthermore, I'd like to give out "awards" at the end. "Uber-Underdog", "Spastic Speedfiend", "I Mash Key", and the like.

Sound coool, guys? Give me some feedback.

Or just AIM me @ SayonaraToSanity

    UPDATE: 10/18 @ 1:00PM EST
    ------------------------------------------

    - Tournament was now named "Ultimate Keyboard Competition", or UKC for short.

    - The competition will be divided into 2 divisions and 2 sub-leagues within those divisions.
    - Four-Finger/Three-Finger Division | King League (Advanced)
    - Four-Finger/Three-Finger Division | Jack League (Novice)
    - Index/One-Hand Division | King League (Advanced)
    - Index/One-Hand Division | Jack League (Novice)

    - The competition will last a week, with each day having a variable number of matches for each division/sub-league. The league will follow a points-based system that will later be determined (Ex. 1st Place - 10 Points, 2nd Place - 7 Points, 3rd Place - 5 Points, etc.)

    - At the end of each competition day, the bottom rung(s) of each respective ladder will be eliminated from the competition

    - Wins/Placing will be determined by myself and assisted by opinions of a soon to be named judge or judging panel. More on this later.

    - Songlists for each division/sub-league will be released in time. Please, be patient.

    - The event itself will take place roughly Mid-November.

    - A small webpage dedicated to the current rankings/awards of each league will be made.

    - For those interested, a sign-up thread will be started Thursday, October 20th Be on the look-out.

    - The top 3 of each respective division and sub-league will recieve an invite to the post-event championship; The Ace League (Invitation Only) which will take place shortly after the conclusion of the week's events.

The SMO community showed interest too, so this might become something big.

This will fail. Reach or Nima will play and win every category, thus making it totally pointless.

So how good do you need to be to play advanced? I'll probably play in the novice one if i decide to do this, but i wanna know.
