I've always wondered about this.
For me, I tend to look directly at the stationary arrows and peripheralize the arrows pretty much right up until they hit, but I understand that some people look at the middle of the screen where the marvelous timing is and whatnot as well...
I've found that looking lower in the screen will increase the speed at which you can read, but decrease accuracy. Your observations?
