Go into FFRFAQ near the top right, and go into an FAQ about making stepfiles. Going there will give you the general idea about how to make a stepfile.

The SM editor is very easy to figure out the ropes. I even made heavy steps for Payon.

Yeah, the SM editor is probably the best thingy to use to make stepfiles. Using notepad gets really fucking confusing sometimes. Plus in the SM editor you can listen to the song as you make the stepfile.

Open Wordpad. Open an existing DWI for one of your other songs. Notice all the header crap. Copy all that and change the info and stuff. Save as : filename.DWI and make sure the thing is set to All Files.

The problem with StepMania is you can't figure out the BPM (at least the version I last used to make steps, 3.0 (final)). I have 3.09 now but I haven't tried the editting system yet (if it's any different). Get X-Step to figure out the BPM. Create a folder for the song files and all. Put the mp3 in the folder, then a .DWI file from another folder. Open the .DWI with notepad. Change the name, BPM and Artist (you don't have to, but I think it's easier using notepad), then delete all of the numbers that would normally be the steps. Save it then go into StepMania and there you go! But please, for the love of all that is good, make sure the steps are in sync before you go sending them off. Thanks!
