Stepmania causes computer to reset

When i run stepmania, (3.9 rc1 AND rc2), and i select a song to play, after about 10 seconds my computer resets. This can also happen when i'm in the options.

Is anyone aware of a solution to this problem?

That and, I'd suggest reinstalling the program.

I had this happen and it was because my CPU was overheating, but that was back when I was using 3.9 Alpha 21. I haven't had a problem since then. Maybe you have too many processes running. Other than that, I'd say check for viruses and spyware (that can never hurt).

Yea, I used to get this too. Only I'd be playing SM for a while and then my computer would restart without warning. Anyway, I got a new video card, and I've never had a problem since.

Also, Tsuteto is right. This should be in the Stepmania forum. This doesn't even have anything to with R2.

MY comp was also overheating except it didnt restart it went to hiberhate mode

this is crazy but just try a new power supply....cause my comp kept doing tht with stepmania/half life 2. and i just put a neew power supply in and there we go my comp didn't restart ne more

It really sounds like a driver issue considering the computer completely restarts (i.e. probably a Windows blue screen).

Update your video and sound card drivers (your computer manufacturer should have updated drivers on the web site -- all you should need is your computer's serial number) and try again.
