    Carpo-Tunnel?

Has anyone ever gotten Carpo-Tunnel Syndrome (spelling?) playing stepmania or FFR? I was just curious because of how much you use your wrists.

It's carpal tunnel. And nobody has probably played long enough to get it.

I HAVE!!! OH GOD THE PAIN!!! j/p. No. Nobody has gotten yet, and I doubt that someone will be crazy enough to play long enough to actually get it.

I guess so, but just in case I've been trying to switch over to 2 hands (less work).

I've been switching over to two hands too, but only for the harder songs. My right hand has very good timing on it, so I still use it for songs that don't take that much effort. I'm getting better at just using my two index fingers though.

I played payon so many times with 1 hand once after coming back from vacation that my hand actually locked up, and the top of my hand started to swell, and there was a big bruise there. Couldn't move my fingers much for several days.

what exactally is carpal tunnel anyway o_O

I've been using 2 hands forever it seems, and I've never had ANY trouble with my wrists.

It's basically just a permanent pain in your wrist.

Oh, well i don't think that could possibly be caused by ffr or sm.

Beginners (mostly 1 handers) can experience muscle pain or cramps...even more severe cases too (like my case) from playing too much...but thats about it.

The only thing I have is since having played FFR, my fingers bend in weird ways. Like they bend at the joints different than they used to. I don't really know how to describe it. Also, I used to not be able to crack my fingers, and now I do; at least a couple of times a day.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I always play one-handed.

                      What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when tendons or ligaments in the wrist become enlarged, often from inflammation, after being aggravated. The narrowed tunnel of bones and ligaments in the wrist pinches the nerves that reach the fingers and the muscles at the base of the thumb. The first symptoms usually appear at night. Symptoms range from a burning, tingling numbness in the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers, to difficulty gripping or making a fist, to dropping things. Some cases of carpal tunnel syndrome are due to work-related cumulative trauma of the wrist. Diseases or conditions that predispose to the development of carpal tunnel syndrome include pregnancy, diabetes, and obesity.
I've never been close to getting it. Maybe because I ain't that great at SM.
