also what makes certain sm files distinct is certain hard parts that kind of get lost when shuffled
please don't tell me you're actually in the camp of "shuffle is bad"
you're primarily an accuracy player, so maybe you don't see what shuffle is a benefit to higher level players
you do know what shuffle does, right? not only does it, you know, randomize the columns so you're forced to play patterns that aren't used very often in charts, but it also removes reliance of muscle memory
Hold release timing is not a bad thing. Do you just excessively hold all keys when you play the piano?
equating a rhythm game to playing the piano
We are all spoiled by SM's convenient freeze mechanic which induces wrong ways to play a music.
it introduces a disadvantage when playing other rhythm games
players who decide to pick up a physical instrument due to playing a rhythm game will only require one day of practice or tutoring to realize that every single skillset they have acquired in their playing of rhythm games gets thrown out the window. the only exception might be an ear for music, but that's a mental thing, not a physical thing
This is terrible for music games.
it's only bad if a player decides to branch out into a different rhythm game. an example would be when I started playing bms. holds were the bane of my existence. got over them pretty quickly though.
Also I wouldn't have to make minefields if SM had hold release timing

This is what IIDX Random does, and players use it all the time to practice patterns (instead of just relying on learning the patterns of a chart) and also sometimes help them get high scores on a "good random"
