also: Stepmania is a muscular game. If you plateau, there is a muscle-related reason. You will need to do something differently, whatever that is, even if it's targeted training on files that you can get low As to high Bs on.

By no means do I mean that Taco Bell is a 'Mexican' restaraunt, but it has a reputation of giving the hershey squirts.

On a more serious note, I got better at dumps by making my own, and gradually increasing the difficulty on them. It helped me get faster.

My head hurts so badly, and I'm really dissatisfied with my skill level.

Since dumps were bit too fast for me, I decided to play some of my index maps on spread . I was HORRIFIED. I can barely go above 300 combo on 215 BPM, and 240 onward I get 75-80% on Tachyon Epsilon songs. A small comparison: I did 90% on 210BPM song I have FCed 1.4x on sprindex.

This really sucks, but I think I know where the problem lies. I struggle with both reading and playing patterns involving movement of two fingers of the same hand. A good example would be 1232123, 1234321, 121324343212 and so on. Of course all trills, but they aren't as harsh because there is no problem with reading (oh look, thats a trill, I know what to do).

Playing the faster dumps I try to mash controllably with fingers doing rather gallop movements than constant movements. However at slower songs I'm forced to do constant movements and my fingers fail at that. Learning faster onehanded trills would do the trick for me I think. What is the speed you can trill at? Mine is 210 and no more.

Playing files with a lot of one-handed patterns that you can barely do should be helpful for you. If there's something that takes a lot of time to adjust to as a spread player, it's definitely that. The faster you'll get at these, the more easily you'll be able to do every other patterns as well. What file fits that category? No idea sadly.

I use Staiain's 3.95 CVS, noteskin Wafles 3. CMOD is C800 50% Distant, but I can also play C750 Overhead and C850 Distant (I can quite safely add ~+30 to those).

dunno about 3.95 themes, but for sm5 ya could tried my barebone theme that removes the lifebar from the top and puts it to the side resulting in a bigger playing field which I find handy cuz its easier to use a higher cmod making the field less clustered, wafles 3 is a easy to read noteskin like my exactv2 so I doubt thats the issue, this is what I do to read hard patterns herpderp
