I think that for the high scores board, there should be an option to search by playing level, where it takes your stats and matches you to a certain range, or to other players with similar stats. Otherwise, you'll have the stepping gods whoring the top scores for as many songs as they can. I'd like to see who I rank with, so I can find more people to play with.

Also, will there be support for Effects/Appearances/Etc.? I know that on the old server, there was a limit of around 4 or so before your game crashed, and I'd love to play with a slew of mods when I'm hanging out with my less experienced friends.

      Here are some suggestions:

A tag in the .sm file (#XMOD=0,1 ?) where if it's set to =1, using a c-mod will trigger disqualification.

Stop "Cover/Hide Background" option from triggering disqualification. I know some people including myself that uses this as a more convenient way to adjust the BGA brightness.

More convenient way to adjust the receptor positions (separately for standard/reverse).

Not a good idea at all, it has to be something like server side... rewritting 232234 simfiles with a tag (maybe im missing something?) doesn't sounds like good plan.

The best thing to do would be to create xmods/cmods rank for every file separated, while manually would be the best, i don't think it would be factible that one person add every single file that the "community" declares as "xmodplayable"...

maybe when someone plays the file on the desired mode (cmod/xmod/xrate) the scoreboard for that option automatically creates
        My latest works:

        BCMP-ish (6key)

        Solo 137 Pack (6key)

        Jumpstream of Fighters vol.1

        Jumpstream of Fighters vol.2

I was assuming that the community was going to pick out the existing x-mod files (or at least the popular ones) and fix them manually at some point in time. I know the above is very unlikely to happen for every x-mod files, It still would be nice to have them for newer files.

This has been implemented for the next version.

I'll look into this, but it won't be in the next released version (pre001.1) due to time constraints.

How does it calculate the NPS? It seems like it averages the whole song, because Extratone Pirates from Tachyon Gamma is 250 BPM, so the NPS on 16th streams hits 16.67 (250 divided by 60 then multiplied by 4), yet the NPS counter has it at around 10. Would it be possible to have it ranged, like the BPM? Maybe if it stays within a certain range for a few seconds, it'll count (so you don't have the short bits with few to no arrows added in).

Otherwise hard songs will seem easier, as I've played songs that were 10 NPS just fine, but had trouble on some that were tagged as 9.

                Re: StepMania 5 Tournament Edition

Downloaded the new version today, and for some reason I'm stuck on fail off mode. I tried fiddling around with the options menu and resetting the game, but none of that worked. I'm reinstalling it right now so I'll edit in if it works, but I'm kinda doubting it.

Anyways thought I would let you know.

                Edit: Didn't work

Edit 2: And apparently some of my songs that were originally on sync are now really off sync o.o

Edit 3: Apparently switching themes then switching back fixed the problem, okayyyyyyyy O.o

                  Re: StepMania 5 Tournament Edition

the fail mode thing is a known issue and is already fixed for the next version (by getting rid of every fail mode that isn't immediate).

the NPS thing is currently impossible to properly calculate in the theme because there's no way to go "hey, how many notes are in this section and what is the BPM?" from the theme; I have a lot more important things to worry about (like letting people edit the custom speed mods from within the game) at the moment :s

                  edit:
speaking of editing the custom speed mods... I've made some progress on the editor:

i was thinking about the separated scoreboard system, but what if there's only one scoreboard for a difficulty of each song, and we allow the user to filter the results of that desired scoreboard to the settings we want to see? that would be a lot more elegant and useful than having different tables for each issue, even we could choose very specific filters (c700+, tornado,x1.2 lol)

Indeed - that could solve the problem of disqualification, by storing an individual score for each combination of mods you used on a song. So you could have two separate scores for 4x and say, c800.

Yes, I plan on splitting the scoreboard by C and x-mod usage on the leaderboard. (I should also add a separate scoreboard for m-Mod usage, no?)

Went through the changelog and saw:

                          * C-Mods should only disqualify if the Min/Max BPM difference is greater than
                          3.00 BPM.

Will our scores still record though? I'd like to be able to know whether or not I hit a personal record on a song.

Also, where are all of the quick option key combos (selection mode, reset all mods, add ----- mod) at? I really want to get rid of any quick key combo aside from the song selection type. It annoys me when I accidentally push a couple keys in a certain order and reset all of my mods to default and have to quit out of the song then reapply them.

I could've sworn I got rid of every single code in CodeDetector that wasn't related to sorting/closing folders. I'll look over it for the next release.

personally, I don't feel like it's necessary, considering the fact that M-Mods work off of the highest BPM within the song and still leave all changes/stops intact, no?

if anything, M-Mods are the lazy way of getting your desired scrollrate, lol

I still left SM5 Preview 4 installed so I could hop online with people. That wouldn't interfere with it and add in those codes, would it?
