I stepped the original Extratone Pirates (Xx{Midnight}xX) file
no, really
While yes you did the sync, I completely deleted your chart and cut the song myself. The patterns and such weren't taken from your chart at all, as I'd rather step it my own way.
Here's why I took your sync: I would have either done the same exact number myself, or done something that worked equally as well. I'm sure at least one person here has done something similar. So eh, not worried about it tbh.
I'm also really curious here, how would you know I used the same sync if the only people who got the chart are Reuben_Tate and Psychoangel/TC_Halogen.
It's not like they give it out, so did you like hack the DF engine or something? I'm just curious.
You can download the .swf's and decompile them into .ffr files and the mp3. Although the .ffr files don't have the right kind of information to easily tell how the file is synced.

I have no idea what you're talking about with the sync - I'm referring to the really early file from the secret syncer engine, which only a couple of people have played. It was posted way before the Extratone Pirates chart I posted on the FFR forums.

stepmania will never die, there will always be people playing it.
it's you pessimistic lot that keep saying that stepmania is dying that's really killing it because you're not looking at the broader picture.
the problem is that the vast majority of these people that will always play stepmania are casuals and don't take anything about this game as serious to an extent as all of us here do. there are more regulars/veterans leaving than there are new people starting, which is the real issue at hand. stepmania is not dying, it has really just hit a plateau and is slowly declining in numbers. a game doesn't die until it ceases existence, therefore there will always be people playing it, casually or non-casually.
frankly, there is more simfile activity today than there was in the past—stepmania is still bustling in the simfile production aspect. the issue is who is out there in the world that will care to play them? and for how long?
