    DDR vs. ITG

    I've seen this thread on MANY forums (such as this one) and they all end up falling into the pits of stupidity. Let's attempt to change that, shall we? XP

    So basically, TRY to give a fair look at why one would prefer another. You could prefer one, that's your opinion, but it's best to be fair. Also, try to stay away from song preferences.

    DDR:

    -Stricter timing windows (If that's your thing)
    -Better charts at 7 below
    -Better doubles FOR THE MOST PART
    -omg it caem furst betch (not a real argument)

    ITG:

    -More accurate timing windows
    -Better arcade cabinet (pads, screens)
    -MUCH better charts 8 up
    -More customization
    -More tricks (Mines, hands, etc
    -More accurate ratings (DDR 9s range from ITG 7s to 11s (NGO, Hades). 10's range from 8s (Sakura, Xepher) to 13s)

    Anyone?
    The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

      I loooove the noteskin on itg.. And Oasis on hard is a beautiful file to fc ;_;
      I prefer DDR simply because that's what I'm used to, the songs are great and I've played it for so long. I recently got into itg because I bought it for 5 bucks at a flea market and it is amazing I have to say, I just can't play anything above hard because of the mines.

          Re: DDR vs. ITG

          I say "who cares?" But if I had to answer... ITG simply cause there machines are built better, pads are more reliable, and I mean seriously... R21 supported machines. I only support DDR cause it's beginner friendly.

            Re: DDR vs. ITG

            This battle has gone on for far too long, let me break it down so this thread can die.

            ITG v.s. DDR

            Design of Arcade cabinets -> ITG
            - Pads are ultimately more durable.
            - Pad panels are higher, allows for better Expert play.
            - Dedicated cabinet speakers last longer.

            Flexibility of Arcade units -> ITG
            - R21 (enough said.)

            Amount of song choices -> DDR
            - Konami has been around longer, and stalled ITG, forever.

            Amount of mode choices -> Both
            - Both games include three modes.
            - ITG seemingly includes better ones. (Marathons > Oni mode)

            Step style -> ITG
            - We've adapted to matching beats over the original 1/8th stream cross-overs.

            Music genre -> DDR
            - DDR covers a wider variety than genres, favoring the Japanese culture though.

            User friendly -> Neither
            - DDR has many more easier weighted songs, but selecting modes after DDR Extreme is a nightmare with the constant menu changes, with default options limiting song choices, and recently removing Standard and Heavy (default choice for X2 machines.)
            - ITG caters to more a difficult, non-Japanese crowd with it's higher choice difficult not-J-Pop songs but confuses the hell out of people with changing difficulty settings and the "advanced" menu options.
            - I would say ITG only because it doesn't default you on a mode you'll regret (F*ck you X2 machines.)

            I could keep going, but it's pointless. ITG is still around because R21 and the friendly hacking features which keeps it popular amongst the U.S. players and even StepMania players. DDR is still kickin' because it's one of the two only dance games that appear in arcades. Overall, ITG would have been better, had it been able to continue and prosper.

            P.s. All information is off the top of my head at 7AM.

              Re: DDR vs. ITG

              I prefer DDR.

              DDR seems to run smoother than ITG.
              I'm not a fan of mines.
              I'm not a fan of "hands".

              I prefer the DDR arrow look to the ITG arrow look.
              ITG scroll always seems slanted to me, no matter how you change display options whereas DDR is flat, and I prefer flat scroll.

              I actually like the missions the console DDR games include whereas console ITG does not include any although some people hated the missions.

              DDR charts seem to be designed so they're at least playable on 1x, whereas this isn't true with many ITG charts which seem designed around 2x. IMO the speed mod should be optional, not practically a requirement.

              The one thing ITG has going for it, IMO, is the ability to add songs/charts to it.

              These are just my opinions and yours may differ.

                  Re: DDR vs. ITG

                  there is literally no merit to DDR aside from the company's continuation of the series

                  ITG is superior in LITERALLY every way possible.

                  pump on the other hand I prefer for completely different reasons

                      this sort of comparison was invalid 5 years ago and it's even less valid now
