    iON pad for $200

Usually I see this pad around ~$350, but here it's $200 with free shipping (lots of them).

    as opposed to

Seems legit, and it's one of the more recommended pads.

Oh, it seems to be a version without a bar. Which may explain at least part of the price difference. I don't think I'd pay all that extra for something that can be solved with a little ingenuity.

Anyone have input on this? I could go for a nice pad right now. I could also go for not spending $200.

I have heard the iON pads are hit or miss. With only 30 day return policy, i would be cautious, even though this guy has sold 25. The fact that shipping is free really makes this a great deal.

I would take this offer, then come back for a review, cause i might buy one!

I doubt I'd be pushing it anywhere near any breaking points for a while, so my review wouldn't be too useful. Plus I've never used a pad before x_x

The $200 one doesn't seem to include a built-in bar
Why would you put that in your signature? You've lost your signature rights for a month. (You'll get them back on March 10th, 2012.)

iON owner here. I've owned my pad for 2+ years with no problems (after doing the foil mod). Still works perfectly, no issues at all.

I got lucky when I bought mine, I happened to find it at a thrift store for literally $20 (needed repairs, but i fixed it)

How does iON compare to ITG dedicab pads?

                  iON sensor placement:

2 Tapeswitch sensors in each button for better sensitivity
Like ITG dedicabs, DDR cabs have four sensors per arrow; however, if I remember correctly, DDR sensors are much smaller (taking up about half a panel equidistantly from the center, in comparison to ITG's much larger sensors, taking about 80-90% of the panel size). Because of this, on a DDR pad, you'll have to fine-tune technique to catch the up/down arrow sensors, whereas on an ITG pad, just barely touching it with the proper pressure will trigger it no problem.

However, the home versions of these pads (ITG to Blueshark as DDR to this) seem to give you less sensors, as well as different placement (a Blueshark has two sensors going horizontally across a panel, in comparison to an ITG dedicab having a sensor on each side of the square panel).

Yeah, I think I'll just pass and make my own... I don't want to mess up my heel-toe

I'd love to actually take the time to make my own pad. However, the expenses involved would probably be comparable to that of buying a Cobalt Flux (or more, because I'd want a dedicab-style setup with four sensors on each arrow), but at the same time, I can cater it to my particular needs, and maintaining it will be incredibly simple because well...I'd be the person who built it.

It actually wouldn't cost that much. I know I could get the parts machined by my school for cheap... Also Cobalt Flux isn't that great really...

I bought the pad. My only complaint after 2 days of usage is that the up and down arrows scrape against the frame if I don't hit the outer half of the tile. Can this be fixed?

I was expecting the tiles to be more tactile and less mushy, but I've never used a pad before.

I think I have an iON pad. It's a different colour, but the buttons look similar. Just a note, the backbars are really cheaply made and are hollow.
