    Best DDR?

I'm going to go out and buy DDR and a dance pad tommorow. The only problem is that I don't know which game or pad to buy? Can you guys help me? What is your favorite DDR game? One more thing, is there any DDR game for PS2 that you can go online with?

If you're a beginner, you might want to consider DDRMAX2 because it has a more comprehensive teaching method (onscreen dancers). Personally, however, I prefer DDRMAX. The PS1 DDRs are fun, but they are also hard to find and the backgrounds can get distracting. As for a pad, you could just get the DDRMAX2 package that comes with one (I say that just because that would be killing two birds with one stone). Other than that, the best DDR pads can be found online. For some cool Pad+ game packages, head to http://www.buynshop.com/

DDRMAX2 = teh suck but good for begginers
DDRMAX = a little better than part 2

Pad = Red Octane or Ignition ones ( heavy duty metal kick ass ones )

        OK here's the lowdown

DDRMAX2 is a peice of crap, my girlfriend has it, oh my GOD it is horrible, it has so many cheese trance or dance in general songs that it's just sickening. I seriously want to punch the guy in the face that decided to license Heaven for it.. ugh. I was stuck with this peice of crap mix and a controller for hours because her dad made her play this pen and paper RPG so I couldn't spend time with her and I will leave out any more details for the sake of this not becoming a huge rant, but needless to say I filled up half her songlist on heavy with AAA's, that just shows you how long I was stuck with this mix X_X. Anyways, get MAX2, because you won't be as near as picky as I am because you are just starting out =X

Max2's definitely not as good as DDRMAX...but you'd prolly be better off with the second one =\ Some ps1 versions aren't that bad either (cheap too), try looking for Konamix.

I would say, like everyone else here to get DDRMAX 2. If your looking for a cheap game theN I suggest a PS 1 DDR except for Disney Mix. The game goes for $45+ while the other games go for about $30. But if you do get DDRMAX 2 you get a free dance pad with it. So that would rule out getting a dance pad for a bit.

For dance pads you should get a Red Octane pad, sure they go for $40+ dollars but they will last you a long time, you should aslo get the dance pad cover that goes for $10.

MAX2 has some good stuff, like Tsugaru, SDPSR, and Maxx. But overall, get Max.

MAX is challenging, has Oni mode (Nonstop simply cannot make up for that), and Midnite Blaze. Enough said.

DDR First mix all the way to 5th were never released in America...therefor...there IS NO english retailer. (that includes 'extra' mix too btw...) All of my earlier mixes (2,3,4 and extra) are all pirated.

Okay I'm sorry but the beginner mode is ridculously easy - I started playing on Max and I basically mastered that up minus a few songs. Max2 was disgusting beyond belief, with the slow, crappy trance songs. However, there is bright spots as it hatched Tsugaru, Hysteria 2001, and MaxX Unlimited. Beyond those three (maybe Afronova can sneak in, but I'm not a huge fan of that) there isn't much enjoyable songs. But for a beginner.. sure.

Max is the best for intermediate to advanced stage players, whereas UltraMix is the best for the pro's. Ie: Sakura and Bag.

I got DDRMAX2, but I'm not really a begginner. When I bought the pad and game, I had only played DDR at an arcade like 5 times, but I could do Standard songs easily (thanks Stepmania!). Now, I've only really played it like 10 times after I bought, and I'm getting B's on Tsugaru I don't really know, but I think I got better a lot faster cause Stepmania. Could this be it even though they you play with two entirely different things?
