So I picked up Rock Band for my Wii a little while ago. Just finished up. On GGHT the second solo was giving me lots of problems on the 3-fingered rolls. I haven't gotten used to shifting up to the "solo" keys so I just played the whole song on them. It made a HUGE difference since I didn't have to strum to get back on the notes. I can definitely improve this score as I get used to playing on the upper keys.

So all in all, I played each song once on Expert except for GGHT which took a few tries to pass. I gold starred 38, the rest were 5-starred except for three 4-stars (Are You Gonna Be My Girl, Ballroom Blitz, and I Get By), and one 3-star (Run to the Hills).

Rock Band 2 is gonna be awesome.

But, it's coming exclusively to the 360.

For a little while.

It gets released for the 360 on September 14, then PS3 and PS2 in October, then Wii in November.

Also, I heard that Rock Band 2 instruments will work for both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 4: World Tour. Is that true?

Yes, it's true. And you only get the game first. Peripherals come out at the same time for PS3 and X-box.

From what I understand the 360 standalone instruments will be sold early as well, but the bundles will come out at the same time as PS3.

What I do. Is hold my left hand index finger on red and I use me middle and and index of my right hand to sort of gallop on the orange and and blue.

Works perfectly. I usually always hit every part of that bit. Also, when star powered through the whole thing. It can bump you score up around 90k. No joke. My score at that point goes from like 330k to about 410k.

i use 2 hands for the solos, so I do the exact same thing as Seth. Works awesome, I find it's the easiest part of the solo O.O, my freind always dies on it, but i always cruse through.

Oh I had no trouble playing it when I used the solo keys. I fall off the notes some, but what was killing me was trying to time a strum correctly when using the normal keys. I've never tapped before. It's probably a useful skill but I just never had the patience to practice. Maybe it's because I'm way better than any of my friends here without looking into new techniques =p

And that score is misleading, it was the first time I used the solo keys ever. And I played the whole song on it since shifting up there doesn't come naturally. I was missing everywhere in the beginning because my fingers weren't used to the spacing, hence the crappy combo.

Both of the GGaHT solos are really easy to transition into on the solo buttons, you ought to use that as an opportunity to learn the basics of how to switch. And even if you miss a few notes at the beginning of the solo it's better to hit lots of notes elsewhere and then miss a few quick ones right in a row than constantly missing all over the place.

I use a GH guitar, not a RB guitar, which is what makes my scores somewhat better. =P

Downside, if you miss .. it's hard to pick yourself up again.

How does using a GH guitar yield better scores?

EDIT @dore: I'll start practicing, but I doubt I'll give it much time. I still have the Wii track pack to play, the GH3 Aerosmith disc, not to mention I never opened Bully, DBZ BT3, and I want to finish Fire Emblem. I still need to buy Mario Kart, and I'll be getting Rock Band 2 too. Busy busy busy!

Really don't think using a gh guitar will do anything but put you at a disadvantage.

Chaz. Takes about, 10 minutes to get over the solo buttons. Getting used to them is a breeze. Getting used to switching between fret buttons is a bit annoying but GGaHT's is really a good start. What I did to start, was rather than relying on the sliding of my hand down and feeling the buttons. Was to quickly look down and place my hands accordingly. You may miss one or two notes but after a little while it becomes second nature and you don't have to look.

All that being said I suggest you take advantage of the solo buttons and finger taping. It's stupid not to in my opinion.

I can't play using a RB guitar, the strumming is too weird.
