Why does DDR change author names?

Examples, "Toxic" we all know is by Britany Spears, but on SuperNova they say it's by someone else.

"Faint" on SuperNova2 is by Linkin Park, but they say it's from Pegasus

Too lazy to get more examples, but you get the point.

Are they just using pseudonyms for the real artist? If so, why?
Or are they being cheap and getting people to rerecord the songs, so they can save money, and get someone elses name up there?
They say there's a sun in the sky...

They're covers. The artist that's listed is whoever did the cover.

Like Captain Jack. Centerfold was by J. Geils Band, and Captain Jack did a cover of it.

          Like 'Genie in a Bottle'.
That song was by Christina Aguilera, but it's by some other group and featured on Ex 2.

Sometimes third-parties remix these songs (with permission from the original artist). They must have bought it from the third-parties and thought that they made so they did not usually include the original artist's name in the song.
Many people today play DDR Extreme, DDR Supernova and later. But I still play 1st and 2nd mix in the arcades. Too bad for me.

            .

            PRESENT DAY
Man: I'm going to play DDR 1st Mix today.
Man 2: SO what? I'm playing Supernova 2 today.
Man: What the hell is Supernova?
Man 2: Go back to the 60's, noob.
