ITG Memory Card Help

I have a usb memory card and I put my own custom songs in it following whatever the following website says:

http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/Custom_Songs_with_In_The_Groove_2_Arcade

It keeps showing an X over the memory card. Can anyone tell me whats wrong? Am I missing something? I really want to play my custom songs.

First did you make sure that USB is campatible with ITG2 and that the ITG2 machine has r21

Yes. The ITG2 arcade machine said it was r21
