Re: beatmania?
It's a DJ Simulation game where you have a nice turntable.

There notes fall and you have to hit them with the appropriate key.

The red notes mean you have to spin the record on the turntable.
This game is really fun.
i hear that they have it at gamestop for 30 dollars.
I would reccomend buying Beatmania. -

Re: beatmania?
Yes it is. But beatmania actually has a keyboard. Beatmania has been ported to the gameboy, playstation 2, playstation (there's more but i don't know them).
The newest home version whould be Beatmania Happy sky which is the 13th style but you have to impoort it to play it in the U.S. There has only been one U.S version of beatmania since it originally developed in Japan.Comment

Re: beatmania?
Yeah, start with the U.S. version which is reportedly down to $30 brand new now (my local stores haven't done so yet - still at $45). The game can be pretty brutal on the higher difficulties but it's nothing that practice won't help with.

Re: beatmania?
Although this thread is almost a month old, I must say that beatmania (or beatmania IIDX for that matter) is an underrated game that has some fantastic music. The gameplay's quite addicting. A lot of people avoid this game because they see it as too hard, or unimpressive (the US version is only an introduction to the game; not really impressive, nor did X-play's review really helped either).
The only disadvantage is that beatmania doesn't give you the exercise DDR offers. Nor does it look like it has as much action as, say, DDR or Guitar Freaks/Heroes. But once you put some time and effort into the game (yet another reason why many gamers aren't into it), you will find that beatmania is very fun, and *gasp* more challenging that FFR/Stepmania by all means.Comment
