In the In The Groove 2 folder on your pen drive, Create a Songs folder. Inside of the songs folder place in whichever simfiles you wish to use. NOTE: The simfiles MUST be in OGG format. The simfiles do not have to be in 'Group' folders but may be. Any song's folder in your pen drive's song folder will appear on the machine next time you play. As long as the customs songs option is on in the ops menu all you have to do is insert your pendrive and start the game. When you start there will be a folder for your song's in the scroll wheel. The Machine DOES NOT save the songs to the machine, it just plays them off of your pendrive. For example, on the ITG2 machine my card name is AnthonyTGA, on the scroll wheel I see 'In The Groove', 'In The Groove 2' and 'AnthonyTGA's Songs' and all of my dongs are playable.

Tested and true to their word, r21 allows you to load your own songs on the game from your USB flash drive. I played some of mine about half an hour ago.

If anyone is wondering, here's what you need to have in the song folder (each song folder is individual, like StepMania, and they are all located inside the main "Songs" folder.):

-- 1 OGG-format music file at 48,000 sample rate.
-- 1 SM-format file, which is a default output for StepMania.

and thats it? what about banners and backgrounds? also, would the steps be in sync and would the file be messed up if i add mods?

If it's been updated to r21 (You can check on the title screen after you put a credit in) and Custom Songs are enabled. This will also appear on the title screen. If it isn't enabled, get someone with op-screen access to do it for you.

what would they have to do? just select an option that says upate to r21 or something?


btw, is there a dwi to sm converter? all my good songs are dwi...>.<

You can find the patch there. To update the machine, put the r21 file into the root directory of your flash drive, and plug it into the machine. Go to the op menu, and there should be the "Update Machine" option. Make a backup of the data first, though, if you think it may crash. It's happened before.

After it's updated, under one of the submenus (I think it's Machine Options or something similar) there's an option called "Enable Custom Songs" that needs to be turned ON.

As far as "converting" DWIs to SMs, it's fairly easy. Load the song in StepMania, open it up with the Edit/Sync Songs menu, and just hit "Save." It outputs a DWI as well as an SM.
