    Madcatz Dance Pads

Today i bought a Mad Catz Beat Pad Pro (PlayStation and Xbox) so I could use it with my PS2 USB adapter. It isn't working at all. I went to stepmania.com and found it on there and it says not compatible with usb adapters. Is this true? Has anyone else bought one of these?

Also my USB adpater is a Super Dual Box Pro.

Mad Catz Beat Pad Pro (PlayStation and Xbox)

    Manufacturer: Mad Catz (http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/produ...roduct_id=6040)
User report: This pad does not work with PS2->USB adapters but does work with XBox->USB adapters. This is an auto-sensing PSX/Xbox pad and it does not start in PSX mode as soon as it receives power. Most PS2 adapters do not initialize the pad in the same manner as a real PS2/PSX so the pad will not function.

Madcatz is a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad company. Their products suck ass. Even a cheap half-ass working pad would beat a Madcatz pad.

And BTW, I haven't put in all the REALLY's... about 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 of them cut out.

I knew it probably wouldnt be great quality cuz it was only 20$, but with a 1 year warranty on wear and tear.
And I'm returning it either tomorrow or the next day unless someone can help me get it working.

Bump due to me returning it tomorrow unless I get a reason not to. (I forgot to mention I don't own a PS2 Or XBOX so thus this is useless unless I can get it working.)

My Intec dance mat was 25 dollars and it works better then all the reviews said. The only fault is that it curls up in the corners really easily

I have that exact same dance mat. It doesn't work for the PC. Sorry, you may as well return it. =P

You should have gone for efficiency over cost there bud, however, I would not suggest buying a lot of their stuff, I've bought at least 8 microcon controllers for NGC and they've all had problems. (I get discounts on stuff at E.B games is why I bought 8.) I must say, I like the idea of a smaller control, but their stuff is just crap. Memory cards are the only thing I buy from them.

Yea so I returned it today, got 5.75$ back and go a Intec Dance pad for 15$. It turned out that the original one i bought (the madcatz) that on the box it said just Playstation2 when it had a Xbox connector too. So the way the made it was that it would autodetect which one you were running, but since I was using an adapter it didnt pick it up as PS2 Or Xbox.

So anyways the Intec works great and I even go a little money back in the end.

And @ Link's post, I didn't think Madcatz was a bad company because I played on my firends pads which are Madcatz and they seemed fine, but it doesn't matter now.

Dude, the soft pad you should've gotten was the Official ITG Soft Pad. It works like a dream. I've had it for months and I can still register each step with my finger. And I've played ALL the songs (except Pandy) on expert on the thing unmodded and it's still in perfect condition (it is on a computer mat though, no tape)

I have the original madkatz beat pad, i got it for $10 about a year ago and it barely works lmao I have to stomp so hard to register stuff. I taped it to a piece of wood and that has made it work for a while, i'm trying to decide whether or not I get a cf or just buy another one of these and just stop/play less/find some arcades later.

                          Re: Madcatz Dance Pads

I plan on taping mine down to a piece of plywood or plywood-esque square because it keeps sliding around on me, not terribly bad sliding but enough so that I'm hitting the broken TV behind me with my ankles or sliding towards my piano.

Since I've never owned a dance pad before I gotta ask, does this harm the pad or decrease the time it will last?

ebGames doesn't sell those, they carry Madcatz, Intec and maybe some other pads, I was a Pump It Up pad and a couple others.
