    Who will stay?

My question to everyone is who will stay with DDR after ITG comes out? I really want to know because I'm going to switch, and probably never touch DDR again . Is this nearing the end?
    And the pea mocks me.

ITG has replaced DDR. (For me at least) I don't care nearly as much about DDR as I did two weeks ago since Kansas City finally got an ITG machine.

I'll continue to play DDR but I won't take it as seriously as I would with ITG.

Last week we had a DDR Extreme in a prominant spot and a 4th mix in a somwhat less prominant spot. Then the 4th mix turned into an ITG. A day later, the two machines switcched places. For about a day, I was playing in the less prominant spot.

          Hope that answers your question

See? Everyone has been getting these recently. Clearly, ITG is pushing cabinet "upgrade" sales to hype up the PS2 release.

I still enjoy ddr extreme in the arcade.
I think another reason for the switch to ITG is because of the f***ed up extreme home version......
              Man, that really sucked.
The arcade version still rocks though because of all the Japanese songs.
The songs in ITG are great and all, but the steps really aren't original and the patterns repeat over and over until you get so pissed off at them.................
Especially the pointless 11 footers with straight 16ths that only require TONS of stamina.
However, I think DDR takes more skill.......
the only thing I like about ITG is the variety of modifiers and the additions of mines and hands....
              Thats my opinion....

ITG - Music more directed for a view of the American area.
DDR - Music more directed for a view of the Japanese area.

That's what it mostly comes down too. Depending if you like the music from one or the other better.

That's very true, but not just the music.

In The Groove has a "cool" interface with fancy graphics (glowing text for judgings) and shiny arrows. Lots of black on the upgraded cabinets. Timings are somewhat lenient (though Fanstastics are available on all modes, making 100%ing harder), and some certifiable steps.

DDR has a simpler but more charming and colourful interface, enthusiastic announcer, etc. More focus on good timing and less focus on really frantic steps. I dunno if that last sentence has much to do with Japanese tastes, but, there you go.

My question to this thread is...why does it have to COMPLETELY replace DDR? You make it sound as if just because you like ITG more means you're not going to play DDR, or vice versa. We just got an ITG machine in my city... but our city is still packed with DDR machines. Knowing those lazy arcade owners...they aren't going to upgrade, and I'm pretty happy about it too. I want to be able to play both whenever I want, and not on a crappy home pad.

ITG will eventually replace DDR because it's obvious that Konami isn't going to make any more arcade mixes of DDR, whereas Roxor will continue making ITGs. Not to mention that Andamiro's new Pump releases are looking better and better.

                      DDR is dead.

Well to be honest i havn't even seen an ITG machine...probably because they havn't sent any to Canada yet? Well anyways i think I'll stick to DDR...I'm still young and want to become really good at it and I'm into the Japanese songs.

IMO both games are very interchangeable. Well, obviously, you've got the same basic gameplay. ITG adds hands, mines, harder steps, but aside from that, if you get really good at one and find that the other series is improving and the other decling, you can easily "jump ship" between the two.

The question is if they'll be anything to "stay" with at all. I haven't seen any announcements for DDR so far...

I'm going to play both. Mainly because while I still enjoy a few of the songs on DDR, the tracklist gets boring after a while. ITG appeals to me much more with things like Pandemonium, Monolith, etc. Also, handplants rock and DDR doesn't have them.

All in all, though...They're the same concept. More than likely I'm going to work on freestyling on DDR and tech on ITG.
