y is it that every guy thats ddr's or ffr's or is involved in similar beat games r automatically the weird, gay, flamboyant, geeks? seriously these games take skill and athleticability (specifically ddr). if ur a fat slob ddr may not be as easy as u think, and if ur a smoker ddr may not be as simple as u think; seriously the poeple that play these games r the asian anime-lovers, with small penises, and have nothing better to do than play videogames; maybe this stereotype is only from my region, but damn it sucks to be looked upon as an anime-lover (no offense to anime lovers); i dont really have a point here except that these stereotypes suck a fat one

Well, what can you do about it? Sure, it sucks, but I think it is nice to know that they are assholes, and quite possibly less intelligent than you. Laugh it up! Fuck them, it's THEIR problem in the first place, no? Just ignore them, or something. I keep losing my train of thought....screw this.

Not every DDR player is a geek. Well...some of them are. At my school, almost the entire high school band plays DDR or have at least tried it *coughs*geeks*coughs*. All the employees were I work at play it on their breaks (I work at a bowling alley). Not every one who plays the game are asian-anime-lovers though. Some of the ppl I see play it are into the music and thats it. I might be an anime lover, but It doesn't mean I have a small penis.

thats a bad stereotype because i just kinda made it up; but another bad one is that every ddr guy, or gal, likes techno; good god, id rather listen to country than techno; no im going overboard there; but its true that almost all ddr and ffr songs are techno beacuse of their beats, not beacuse its most ddr players music of choice, right?

Oh, sorry...I'll repeat the last statement in a nice way.
But, yeah, Arch is right. DDR has gone the path of the Eurobeat, most predominantly starting with MAX. I like the good old days when there was at least a little bit of variety in DDR mixes.
Also, while misclassifying electronica may not be a big deal to most people, it annoys us people who actually listen to it outside of DDR, so that's why some people will get on your ass if you label everything as techno.
And stereotyping just shows how stupid people are. I know people that play DDR who HATE anime. They aren't always geeky (some are sexy like me). No stereotype is ever true to a whole culture or group is basically a form of prejudice. Most of it just stems from the fact that those people are jealous of the friendship the players have at the arcades and it is about something they do not understand so they turn into stereotypical assclowns; it's better to point the finger at something else than admit they don't understand something.

Well, I love anime, I am a geek, I am smart, I listen to Electronic music (as well as Ska, Rap, etc.).

jewpin, i respect that, youre not all bad; but sotn youre right; that was a stupid thing for me to say beacuse afterall music is music, however it wasnt so brilliant of u to say throw out your cd player, etc. because my cd player and car and such dont make the music, they just play it back to me; u cant make music with a cd player, you just play the music that someone else made; u know what i mean; i aint tryin to make any enemies here, i just started a post and some owl threw it off-topic

Well, uhh... I can't really agree or disagree because from where I live, the stereotype is split down the center.

On one hand, there's all the stereotypical DDR players. I know a lot of "aZn" guys (not many girls) who play, a TON of homosexual guys who play (some of which I'm very good friends with, others you just don't even want to make eye contact with), lots of the typical high school geek reject kind who hover around the machine, and of course, the whole geeky college kid crowd.

Yet...the two best players in my state are both very preppy, clean-cut (that's not to say either are straight-edge, hah), nymphomaniacal guys who like nothing more than looking down on all the stereotypical people and are good friends with one of the homo guys who plays (this guy goes to Princeton, plays golf, rich family..you know the type). One of them just got into anime recently. Far from the stereotype, to say the least.

Throw in some goth/raver girls, the "normal" people, some scrubs, and there you go.

Incidentally, why is "g-a-y" a censored word?

good point on the ga y; the best ddr'er i know is a mega-geek; u can smell him a mile away, he does nothing but program computers, he has nasty hair, big glasses, and is skinnier than a skeleton, plus hes the smartest person i know, kid or adult; it amazed me that he could even move his feet because he looked like the most uncoordinated person ive ever seen; ddr helped me meet him; i would have never talked to this kid had he not beat my ass in ddr; i think ddr is a good communicating device because it can bring a guy like me and him to respect each other, but the people who start these stereotypes dont respect shit and that pisses me off;

Jesus christ makaveli, WHY DO YOU LISTEN TO STEREOTYPES?? All it shows is that you are too lazy to check and see if it really is true (99.9% of the time it isnt) and if it deserves to be right. Sure I'm smart, but i dont show it, I'm not a geek, i have a girlfriend, my genitalia is... well i dont think i should say on this board. But anyways DDR is just a fun game that people like to play and if you have a problem with the people who play it may you be racist on your own. 'Nuff said.
