    Why is PUI better?

there's a thread that's about to become a flame war over on the DDR boards about which is harder, and at one point somebody mentioned that PUI is superior in ways other than difficulty.

having only played PUI a few times, i dont know what would make it superior, and i was wondering. my goal here is to make a chart-ish thing to compare the features of both DDR and PUI, to see which has what. i'll start us off with a lil list of what DDR has, then u guys can tell me if PUI has the same and yada yada.

    DDR has:

    Large fan base
Ability to change difficulty song to song
    Arrow modifiers
    Dancing characters (in some versions)
Arrow colors that depend on what beat an arrow is on
    Oni/endless/nonstop modes
    Mostly Japanese techno songs
    4 directional buttons

and other stuff i cant think of

but please, help me in my quest to determine which is better and why
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

    DDR Pros
    catchy songs
    better availability ( arcade, playstation,computer, xbox )
endless modifiers ( pui can't even touch this category )

    Pui Pros
familiar songs ( mambo 5, bye bye bye, take on me )
center step ( cause lets face it when we started we all kept bringing our feet back to the middle )
    catchy songs
more songs on each version ( where as ddr repeats alot of songs on each one )

I know it's a short list but honestly both games have qualities that make them different so that nobody gets bored.

        1) dont double post
        2) so far i'm not seeing why people say PUI is better...

            here is something
DDR Pros- 1. Very good songs some which are very hard 2.able to choose what kind of arrows you want
PIU Pros- 1. Harder songs than DDR 2. Easier freestyling 3. Triples and Quads 4. even if your bar is gone you still get to continue the song
PIU and DDR are fun but PIU as distinct advatage over DDR the thing that makes DDR little bit harder is the judging when you hit the arrows

i think DDR is better because im short and i think the PIU arrows are farther away so its hard for me to reach them but DDR is easier and has better songs i also dont like PIU because my arcade only has the songs in Japanese so i cant read it. and they got a new version without bethovan virus and thats the only song i like on that whole game .

hmm. I think DDR is cool because it's easy and it has a lot of cool songs.
But PIU is cool also because it brings a challenge to you. And has some cool songs too.

No. Just no. You couldn't have gotten it more wrong. Those songs were only in the home version is it definitely does not represent the songs in pump. If you actually played the game in the arcade or prex 3, you'd know that pump is all about k-pop and banya.

I have played Prex 3 at the beach and all they have on the machine are mostly Banya songs like Beethoven Virus and Mr. Larpus. In my opinion in level of difficulty I would say PIU won. But just for overall fun I would go for DDR.

PIU is better since on some songs, u gotta move ur feet, hands and do some cool tricks
DDR doesn't have songs that allow ppl to do those studd
unless ppl try wicked hard to figure out a way to make their steppin cool.
PIU=4 ppl who like flashy stuff
DDR=4 ppl who like 2 b lazy an move their feet onli
BUT then again not all ppl are like that...
                          i kno, i m a quite streotypical person

Well, not that it matters, but here's what I think

DDR- Big fan base... Sweet. -- If you're good, you can be quite flashy with some bar tricks (hop over entry, etc) -- Once your meter is gone, you're done. Discourages the pieces of crap that play. -- other crap aforementioned.

PIU- Big chance for free-styling -- More difficult, more energy expended -- other crap aforementioned.

Could go either way really. Just play both and be a full 9 panel master :P

PUI or PIU- its not a spelling class
