Oh, it was right? Cool.
I figured with a lack of T's in the word, L would be guaranteed to be the last letter.
ESS is a common word middle/end, and in the middle, ION and OR are common waypoints.
I simply deciphered that the word was too long to be followed by OR, making ION the ensured combination. After that it's AL for the ending, as the remaining two letters would have to fall logically into a line.
Basically, with this information, I could narrow the puzzle down to _ _ _ _ ESSIONAL.
Then I just eliminate the ending AL and turn the puzzle into _ _ _ _ ESSION, in order to form basic transition words.
Some of the words in this format include profession, confession, concession, etc. Adding AL, professional was the most commonly used word of the three, thus I made that my guess.

It's okay to go 3 at a time, but it also means only 4 people can guess. 4 DIFFERENT people.
Since it's my word, I guess it's my call on what goes. XD
Methinks subsequent word makers get the same luxury.
