------------------------------------------------------------
This game is divided into rounds. Each round has a “Code Master”, the player in charge of that round. This player selects what the code will be, and how difficult it will be for the other players to solve. At the start of the game, the Code Master MUST post the following, in this order:
-How many digits/letters the code is: (For our example we’ll use 5.)
-What the available choices are: (For our example, we’ll use X, Y, 3, and 4)
*OPTIONAL*
-How many of the choices are “false”, or not actually used in the code: (In this example, you would post 1, as we won’t be using the 4 in our code, meaning it is a “false” symbol, simply there to through people off.)
*IMPORTANT*
The format for posting the code is ALWAYS ///Symbol///Symbol///Symbol///…ect.
------------------------------------------------------------
How the game works… it’s a little bit tricky, but you’ll quickly grasp the concept, I’m sure… we will use the setting we selected above.
-At the start of each round, the Code Master chooses what the code will be… let’s choose the code ///X///X///X///Y///3/// as a demonstration… this corresponds with the information you first posted as the code master (5 digits/letters, contains only symbols which were listed, and has one unused, “false” symbol, the 4).
------------------------------------------------------------
Once you’ve “created” the round as a code master, the players would then begin guessing at the code… here’s an example of what you might guess as a player:
(You ALWAYS post the code like this, in accordance to how many digits long the code is.)
///X///X///4///3///3///
-Let’s say you guess this as the code. It is now the Code Masters job to indicate whether or not each digit/letter was correct, or incorrect. As the Code Master, here’s what you would post in response to this guess:
///Correct///Correct///Wrong///Wrong///Correct///
(You don’t have to type those exact words, but make it clear which symbols match your code and which ones don’t.)
*IMPORTANT*
You may ONLY guess if there is NOT a guess already waiting to be reviewed by the current Code Master. In other words, if you come to the thread, and there’s already a guess, you may not post another guess, until the Code Master has posted his response. (If for any reason you encounter two or more guesses in a row while you are the Code Master, simply select the first one, and ignore all others.)
------------------------------------------------------------
Now that the post has been responded to by the Code Master, anyone can take another shot at the code, using his information to help make a better guess. For example, after seeing that last post, you may guess:
///X///X///X///4///3///
-And in response, the Code Master would post:
///Correct///Correct///Correct///Wrong///Correct///
-Finally, let’s say after this post someone finally guesses the code:
///X///X///X///Y///3///
-In response, the Code Master then lets everyone know the code has been guessed, and the player who finally solved the code gets to become the Code Master, and begin a new round with a code of their choice. The new Code Master would then follow the above steps, and the new round would begin.
*NOTES*
-If you are the Code Master for a round, and don’t believe you’ll be able to finish playing in a single sitting, please write down your code somewhere so as not to forget it… that would cause problems now, wouldn’t it?
-I reserve the right to resume position as the Code Master at any time if I feel the current Code Master is taking a ridiculous amount of time to respond to a guess… (Say for example someone starts a new round, then goes on vacation… that would pretty much kill the game). I won’t do this very often though, I’d say 24 hrs between each response is plenty of time, but I guess we’ll see how it goes.
-Do NOT make codes IMPOSSIBLY hard, try and keep them fun and simple to moderate in difficulty… everyone should get a chance to Code Master at some point.
-Please don't edit after you post a guess, unless you happen to accidentally post after someone else guesses, TY!
-Thanks for reading up on the rules before playing (makes it so much easier to play, huh?). Now that those are out of the way… let’s get to breakin’ some codes… good luck and have fun everyone! ~Bam
