Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
In the first place, levels only let you gain more hearts, and I don't think having a lot of total hearts would be useful if you don't encounter monsters. Furthermore, Merchants and Politicians can too die when they adventure due to weather and/or the terrain. ^.^
*edit* By the way, I made a mistake in the OP before; archers deal 2 hearts of damage per hit, not 1 damage.

Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
In that case, wouldn't it actually be better to have them level up?
e.g. while adventuring:
"You fall off while climbing the mountain, you lose (random.org -> 10) hearts"
Meaning that if you have more than 10 hearts, you won't die in this case.
So it would be indeed useful to gain levels, even if you don't necessarily fight monsters.Last edited by MracY; 10-22-2013, 03:02 AM.Comment

Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
I see what you mean, but the amount of hearts you lose isn't random and sometimes has more to do with percentages than the quantity of hearts. In that case, wouldn't it actually be better to have them level up?

Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
I'm down for this for my travel choice for the dayJohn Doe heads north and runs into alloyus. John Doe smiles and says, "hello fellow adventurer, my name is John. What's your name?" alloyus replies, "my name is alloyus; it's nice to meet you!" John and alloyus travel together for Day 3, chatting and having a relaxing trip.

Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
Technically, if we all want to follow by the rules, Assasins can also kill Merchants. There is also nothing in the rules that prevents Merchants from wearing armor, weapons, rings, or other items. They just ultimately don't see monsters, therefore they have to get their items through other means. Same applies with politicians.
I did that and got 10 on the first try. oops.
Again on the thought of the leveling system and experience...
@ Drizzle, does this mean someone can just sit outside the front gates of the spawn city, farm monsters until they feel that they are low on health, go back and wait it out in a city, and then go out and continue fighting monsters again and receive the same amount of experience as someone way up north trying to get better items? Because health is a very valuable item.Last edited by gold stinger; 10-22-2013, 10:36 AM.Comment

Also, as long as it is possible for a character to lose hearts which causes death, it can be useful to have extra hearts.
Therefore having politicians and merchants gain in levels can be worthwhile.
I understand if you want to make them less hardy, though. In that case,
just make it harder for them to gain levels,
but them gaining levels at all would only add to the game.Comment

wow alright didn't see the small quotes on non-fighter classes that wasn't listed in the manual.Although that wasn't what I was talking about, it is in the rules that Assassins can't kill them.

Merchant & Politician's OP
Also I'm pretty sure there are items out there that add a regeneration bonus to health per day or permanently add 1 heart or something to your health, which merchants & politicians can also use, but I'm only speculating at what kind of rings or bonuses there could be.
BTW we still need a water mage to join this adventure and then we will have one of every class.Last edited by gold stinger; 10-22-2013, 10:42 AM.Comment

Re: Adventure-Based Role-Playing Game!
If I was playing, then I would definitely be a water mage. ^.^
They could, but monsters in tougher regions give more experience.@ Drizzle, does this mean someone can just sit outside the front gates of the spawn city, farm monsters until they feel that they are low on health, go back and wait it out in a city, and then go out and continue fighting monsters again and receive the same amount of experience as someone way up north trying to get better items?
