This song is much easier than its rating. I'd argue it shouldn't even be a heavy get. 353 people have AAA'd this song. There are a few denser sections that make this a 9: jump chains with 16ths thrown in. the rest of the file is easy though: 8ths note jumps, 3 note 16th trills, all at a moderate BPM

stats with other 54s:
nanairopanda: way less AAAs but with double the players
Torinouta: 5 times the players, and 60 AAAs less.
melted marble: twice the players, 120 AAAs less
Coat Czech: twice the players, half the AAAs.

the above songs are all '07/08 files, along with Innocent Decay.


compare to 49s: summer speedy mix, shapeshifter, robotix, uber rave 2 and dokodemo hawaii.
similar AAA %.

I say a 49 mainly because I dont think this song is hard enough to be a heavy get. and stats work nicely in with other 49s.

Plays like a 54 on diagonal scroll if that means anything, but I do agree it's probably rated too high. My only concern with changing it is that to less experienced players, streams like that might not be simple or "play/flow easily".

The file used to be pretty tough with avmisses, probably borderline VC at the time. Just took another look at it now and yeah, I disagree with the 54 rating it was given.

200bpm is pretty fast for an old 9, but you aren't broken streaming 16ths in this file for more than 7 notes in a row. I'd be fine with 50 for this tbh, making it a lower end Heavy unlock since it's a good prep file for the speeds a player will encounter in VC+ files. 49 definitely works as well, especially with those statistics you've provided. I just don't have anything against this unlocking heavy considering what's being tested.

edit: I feel like I should also add that some of the lowest VCs that came out around this time have around the same or more AAAs. Life Light and Dot Matrix Hero both come to mind. In this particular instance, I agree that the file in question should be rated much lower, but going off statistics isn't always the best indication for whether a switch should be made. I don't think very many people would contest that Dot Matrix Hero isn't a VC.

I remember bf'ing this file ages ago, while i'd only AAA'd about 3 or 4 other 9s at the time. It wasn't a fluke either, i got another bf or two on it then. I just couldn't get the right run on it. at the time i def considered it an easier 9
