Lag even with SA flash player

Apologies in advance if someone's complained about this already, I wouldn't be surprised at all, but I didn't find anything with a quick search.

Anyway, FFR lags way too much in my browser to play, and it still lags quite a bit in the stand alone version of flash player 8. It's not like my computer is slow or anything - I've got an AMD 1090T and FFR lags with no other programs open. Wat do, ffr forums?

Are you using Windows Vista as your OS? FFR is known to run poorly on many Vista computers, regardless of specifications.

If you're using IE to keep you logged in than that explains it.

Also: FFR tends to be laggy as a **** ass bitch slut anyways. It's gonna happen A lot.

Nope, windows 7. Not using IE either. This is mega lame. It wasn't always this laggy.

...So If I run it in XP or some pre-vista OS, it'll run fine? What if that instance of XP is in a virtual machine in W7? I'll go try that...

Have you tried Flash player 9? SA 9 is nearly lag-free compared to SA 8 on my Win 7. You should try that.

Set your theme to Windows Classic (or just turn off Aero's effects). That reduces a lot of lag issues for many people using Windows 7.

I'm running XP, tried the SA player, and I still get "good" rather than "perfect" when I know I'm timing it perfectly. I was playing several songs on easy, and I usually AAA them.

Any solution would be nice. Gamebooster only does but so much. I have a separate computer dedicated for stepmania and FFR, but it would be nice to play on my laptop without having to deal with obscenely large offsets.

Yes, try this, usually computers that arent built with higher end parts tend to not run FFR too good with all of the Win7 features and all running. Just set it to the classic look and it should run better. Gamebooster is always another option but I didnt seem to notice much of a difference when I used it.

                      Gamebooster doesn't work too well.

I'm on a rented laptop right now. It's running Vista. I have two tabs open in IE, one this, one Velo's engine. I'm running fine.

Just turn Aero off and you should be fine.

this. flashplayer 9 runs smoothly on my windows 7 too. But I do get a very rare lag spike every one in a while. Overall, I reccomend SA Flash 9.

What are the specifications of your computer? Mainly your processor as Flash tends to be fairly processor intensive. Don't go messing around with VMs until you know the problem isn't your hardware isn't powerful enough to run FFR. Just post the make and model of your PC if you don't know how to find this out. No offence to the users here but many people think this problem is 100% a result of what OS you use lol.

You might need to use the offset function on the FFR engine to re-sync the charts earlier or later.

It's because it is OS related, but only in comparison to specs vs. the OS in question. I'm running an old Lenovo 3000 C200 laptop with a 1.60 GHz Intel Celeron M and 1.5 GB (1 GB added) of RAM (DDR2) and I get absolutely no lag on FFR -- I wasn't even having issues when my computer was at 512 MB on Flash 9. This was on Windows XP, of course.

Kayla (psychoangel691, for your reference, Fido) is running a Windows 7 laptop with an Intel Celeron 900 (2.2 GHz) and 2 GB of RAM (DDR3), but even with the graphic properties set to a lower resolution and her computer set to Windows Classic, she still gets occasional lag issues.

Yeah idk about you but for me when i ran gamebooster my computer came up with lots of errors when i checked the log files, i had to manually re-start all the services because of it, which was a pain in the ass because windows 7 is a pain in the ass haha.

Just turn off aero like halogen said, even if the windows classic theme is ugly its much better performance wise because your computer no longer has to dedicate memory and graphics to the little window previews (dwm.exe). You could just kill the process but i wouldn't recommend that seeing as though using classic theme just temporarily shuts down it's function. Also something else that recently worked for me was uninstalling windows service pack 1 for windows 7. Performance took off after i got rid of that update, it really isn't necessary.

                              Lag blows end of story.
