    Arrow mods affecting score

I, for one, always got pissed because crazy changes did nothing to enhance your score. While playing DDR, I always thought that if I could AA a song with hidden turned on that I should get some sort of score bonus, and I was always dismayed that I didn't. I thought perhaps in FFR certain arrow mods would give bonuses at the end.

Of course, this wouldn't apply to everything. Speed mods wouldn't give a bonus, because some people like songs better at different speeds. Crazy, difficulty enhancing mods like Tornado or Hidden should give a bonus, with bigger bonuses to the harder ones.

This is just a thought that I think would spice up the gameplay, tell me whatcha think, please.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

I think that sounds pretty good but there is a downside. Once those glitched hidden arrrows are finally gone, the top tens will be full of people who are good at a particular mod. Even if the mods only gave you 1 point extra, people would get pissed because merely AAA a song wouldn't put them on the top 10. I don't know if I explained this well enough but I hope you understood me.

yeah, i understand, and i think thats why it should be done. otherwise, what would further thin out the top 10? lots of people can AAA the Mario song, but how many can do it at 8x speed, with tornado, and hidden, and a whole bunch of other crazy things on? crazy people, that's who, and it's the maniacs that should make it to the top 10. well, thats how i see it, anyways.

I don't think mods should improve your score, but they should show up on your scorecard for the screenshot.

Woo, he added a little bubble that shows mods you use.

yes, having it on the scorecard is nice, but i think if some1 can AAA or almost AAA something with certain options on, they should get a higher score. not tons higher, but higher nonetheless.

I agree with you completely evilbutterfly. People who are able to AA/AAA a song with dark - hidden - tornado on should get more points. It's obvious that AAAing a song with those mods on is much harder than doing so normally.

I have to agree with butterfly as well - if you argue that a AAA isn't "good enough" for the high score maybe you should learn how to play it with some mods on to make it tougher. Though it has to be handled well so people who suck at songs can't pass people who are good at them by virtue of mods.

Though I think the cooler thing to do would be to have a separate high score list for each mods combination. Or at the very least have a "plain vanilla" list with no mods + 1x, and then a separate "mod list" where the mod bonus is applied.

..you wanna explain how in the world that would happen? I certainly can't see someone playing with invisible, shrinking arrows and invisible steps doing better than someone who doesn't =P

and here's a stupid idea that might be hard to impliment: a high score table for every mod and combination therof. That way, you can see how you do against other people who use "dark" or "tornado" or whatnot.

I could do an easy song on Sudden Dark and FC it with a bunch of averages, and perhaps beat out someone who AAA'ed it. It just depends on how it's scored.

yea.. i was think about not resetting our highscores for this new method.. but just making a new highscore table for certain mods... not to give point bonuses but to just show who did the best with that mod(s)..

seperate high score tables would be nice. what would be best is if there was the high score table with everybody, then u could see it with filters, like, in a drop down menu or something. so u'd see the scores as you normally would, but then you select Tornado from the drop down and it would show only the high scores with Tornado on. there could be a different drop down box for every type of modification, so you could see any combination of mods. this might be hard for synth to do, tho, so idunno if he will.

That sounds like the best way.

I hope Synth can work something out like this (seperate score table for mods)

You can't add bonuses, only seperate scores with certain mods from other scores. There isn't an efficient way to scale how each mod makes a song difficult, because everyone is different. You can't perfectly judge how much harder a mod makes the song.
