I. Song/Stepfile Requests
1. General. In general, requests for a particular song never go anywhere. If you have a song that you want to see on FFR, you need to put a little bit of work into it. Learn how to make DWIs (either using the Stepmania editor at www.stepmania.com or notepad by using a FAQ) and make a DWI for the song you want to have on FFR. Then use the submission forum at the bottom of the forum index to upload your music and song.
2. Forum appropriateness. If you have a request for somebody to write steps for a specific song, this is not the forum to do so. Use the Simulator Files forum in the "SIMULATORS" section of the index. When you do make your request, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you include a link to an MP3 of the file. This is virtually the only way you can get a stepfile maker intrigued enough to step your song.
3. Requests for genres of music. This means suggestions such as "There should be more classical songs!" or "You need to have a Jazz section!" Synth is only able to upload files other people submit to FFR. If you think a particular genre of music needs representation on FFR, make steps for it yourself.
4. Copyrighted/commerical music. Do NOT request commercial/copyrighted songs for use on FFR. If you have to pay for it or if you can buy it in a CD store, it's commercial music. Requesting this sort of thing virtually guarantees a locked or deleted topic.
5. DDR/Bemani music. Do NOT request that songs from DDR or other Bemani games be used in FFR. It's copyrighted. Requesting this sort of thing virtually guarantees a locked or deleted topic.
6. "Easier" or "harder" songs. Most forum goers are experienced players, so the "harder songs" request does not come up nearly as often as the "easier songs" request. Please do not request either one of these. New songs come out all the time. And your skill will improve. We promise.
II. Feature Requests
0. Many features should not be requested for one or more of the following reasons:
a) The feature is commonly requested
b) The feature is infeasible with the current game engine
c) The feature is too difficult to implement
d) The feature has already been "asked and answered"
These features that should not be requested include, but are not limited to:
1. The other mods on the Settings menu to be included.
2. Mods that appear in SM to appear in FFR.
3. Ability to change noteskins.
4. Multiple difficulty levels on each song
5. Ability to remap the keys.
6. Background animations.
7. Dancing characters.
8. Nonstop/oni courses.
9. Freeze arrows. Synth has already said there will be speed mods in R2.
10. Dance pad support.
11. Any feature already in Stepmania; chances are this has already been considered.
12. Options to turn off the background music.
III. Game Requests
1. Do NOT ask for the ability to make and upload your own songs. You have that ability, but it's not very simple.
2. Do NOT ask for songs already in the game to be moved to a new/different genre. Synth avoids doing this as it confuses players.
3. Do NOT ask for online multiplayer.
IV. Conclusion
If your suggestion is still valid after evaluating this list, then by all means, post it. But it is important to use common sense in thinking "Will this actually work? Will it actually be implemented? Has it been thought of before?"
