    hands and quads

    my keyboard refuses to register them for my configuration
    (cvbn)
    but these configs do work.

    sdfa
    lkj;
    wrqe
    poiu
    vxcz
    /.,m

    why?
    i would rather not change my config if there is something i can do to make it work

      Re: hands and quads

      sadly that doesnt help.

      i find that combinations that wont work
      make my computer bell (beep) when i hold them down

      while combinations that will work
      do not cause a bell
      and the last key repeats

      example(cvbn):
      v(beep)

      example(asdf):
      sdfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

        Sounds like Sticky Keys.
        Google how to deactivate Sticky Keys.

          take off sticky keys, and if that doesnt help use the shift keys

          zx / shift or shift z ./

            if you're too stubborn to shange your setup then like saik0 said, get a new keyboard but I mean really, just change your setup

              hmm i went to the sticky keys menu by pressing shift 5 times and then clicking ok
              but all the boxes are un-checked
              im not sure if this is what is causing the problem

              Most keyboard are setup with a certain amount of leads to deal with the whole keyboard. So lets say you have some cheap keyboard with 10 leads. If c uses leads 1 and 2 to tell the computer that the "C" key was pressed, and v uses 3 and 4, and so on. well when n uses 1 and 4 the computer sees that 1,2,3,4 is already pressed and doesn't know which key you mean to press. It essentially gets confused, then angry and beeps at you for being a retarded human.

              Of course it's much more complex then this and most keyboards use like 20 leads or so, it's all the same concept.

              Edit: in short get a better keyboard. or change your setup
              thanks for the "technical" explanation
              i guess cvbn has some conflict while the other sets do not?

              i have considered changing my set up
              the whole reason i am asking about this is so i can avoid changing it if possible
              your comment is not constructive to my problem

              i asked why it doesnt work
              and how i can make it work
              and by "making it work" i am implying that i want to make my current key board work

              however considering what saik0 said about leads and the fact that i dont seem to have sticky keys turned on
              i think i will have to change it

                Re: hands and quads

                On some computers the only way I can register hands is to use some keys on the num pad as well as letter keys.

                EX:

                using QW and 89 on the num pad works for me.

                QWOP does not however.

                      'hands' is still a perfectly correct, unambiguous way to refer to them
