    urgent scoring problem!

    before this awesome challenge system came along, i seen absolutely no problems with the scoring system. I thought it was just fine, except now when i challenge somebody, I expect to win when the miss 23 more steps than I do. And I get NO 'boos' while they get 17 or so. the only reason a lose a challenge could be because he/she gets more 'perfects' than I do. So perhaps it is time to adjust how you win a challenge, maybe instead of getting more points to win, it could be better steps. Example:

    Player 1 Player 2

    Perfect: 213 188
    Average: 112 128
    Miss: 23 3
    Boo: 15 4
    Max Combo: 83 198

    And yes i do realize the numbers do not add up right and i think im missing a 'great' or something, but besides that. I think Player 2 should be declared the winner because he/she has a higher combo, and almost as many perfects as player 1.

    I cant think of a good way to describe it, but maybe a good way to decide would be:

    for each perfect: 5 points
    average: 3
    miss: -3
    boo: 0
    Max combo: (I dunno what would be fair)

    But afterall its only a suggestion.

      So... If my opponent gets 3,000 Average-combo and 10 perfect. And I get 2,500 perfect-combo and 100 averages my oppenent should win? Just because he has a higher overall combo? That's bullshit and we all know. That's not how it works. I could get 10 perfects, a miss and 10 averages, then he gets 20 goods in a combo. He SHOULD NOT WIN!!

          "That's not how it works"... I hate to sound like a smart ass but that is how it works. That is the way it has worked for over a year. Am I up for change? Yes of course.. Will I have to wipe everyones records to do it? Yes I will.

          Cheers,

                I used to love how FFR was different with the combo system. But now with challenge it is a bit outdated. No matter, I think it'd be nice if you asked the FFR public about it on the home page.

                  Yes true. I guess I meant "That's not how it should work!" Wipe the records? Sure go ahead. It's like putting in an updated version of DDR in an arcade. No scores but things are upgraded. Nima and Reach and everyone could easily get top scores back anyway. People shouldn't be THAT attached to a score. If they are they should have a vid or screenshot of it.

                      I think instead of making only the Max combo count, each combo you get should count. So for like, every number you add onto your combo, it should add a score multiplier of I don't know, .0001 or something (I'm too lazy to do the math right now), but you get the general idea.

                        Clean up the records. I don't have much worth showing for.

                          Mine's a little fancy:

                          Perfect = 6000 pts
                          Good = 4000 pts
                          Average = 2000 pts

                          Miss = -6000 pts (Breaks Combo)
                          Boo = -2000 pts (Doesn't Break Combo)
                          Hiss (or maybe like "OH GOD!") = -6000 pts (Breaks Combo)

                          When you score a boo, a timer counts for 3 seconds. Any boos scored within that time will be replaced by hisses (which will also reset the timer back to 3 seconds, so you can score subsequent hisses). This is to stop button mashing.

                          Max Combo = 1000 pts X 2 if you get a full combo!

                          i.e. in a 200 step song:
                          Full Combo = 400 000 pts
                          199 Combo = 199 000 pts

                          this is real stat heavy tho. I'd have a layout where the perfect/good/avg stats are on one column, then miss/boo/hiss stats on the next, and then combo/*Full Combo Bonus* stats on the last. And then totalscore/ranking below all that.

                          It's too convoluted.

                            60,000 points!? That's a bit extreme.
