Yea, i see your point, but thats why i remember reading the Tier Point requirements as a noob and set a goal right there which was just to achieve 1 Tier Point. I'm up to 38 and i can see ive really improved over the last month or so not just with Tier Points but also with AAAs

When you first start, then you have to wait a long time for your goal. I lose motivation quickly, probably the only thing that kept me here was the official tourney. The friends i met from it really kept me going <3. If I had something like ATPs I wouldn't have had that problem.

If both lists were called TP's, that would raise confusion. ATP is probably the best name for it.

So, here's what I gathered so far:

Amateur Tier Points:
-Gives people points for reaching certain goals on Songs that are rated 4-8 in diffuculty.
-After a user reaches a certain amount of REGULAR tier points, They would be removed from the ATP list.
-Once this list goes into effect, Users that already have more than x regular tier points cannot be put on the ATP list.

The only problem about this is that it would be impossible to rank all players with both lists combined if TPs don't reward a large number of ATPs or Skill Points. I agree with the last point though, those with 160 TPs automatically move up. If ranking everybody is too hard to code for some reason then maybe there could be an individual rank for both systems, in which case I would agree with your first point and there could be different goals for the ATP or Skill Point list. Maybe there would even be rankings for each system just for getting one ATP (Skill Point) or TP....

I think that as long as the ATP list started at Standard. People would be more inclined to participate. As everyone says no one wants to re-AAA easy songs.

Why would they have to re AAA easy songs? It goes from their level rank stats.

Besides, ATPs should NOT be combined in any way or form be combined with actual TP.

They should probably only be combined for ranking purposes and for implementing tier requirements into the ATP system for middle ground players.

if you're actually going to do that LD, best to let the "pros" handle making the list.

also... how do we plan on removing all the tier rank worthy people from the ATP list? clearly most will have full or almost full ATP points, thereby not allowing the newer players access to the ranking, which is the whole point.

perhaps have a cut off? if you have over a certain number of points, you no longer qualify for ATP and have to deal solely with TP.

Yes. But if you implement ATP points from Stuff like free space. EVERYONE will have at least 1 ATP point. Which kind of destroys the purpose of "I want to get on the ATP list!" And they should not be combined whatsoever. If you reach 80% of the ATP list you should just get automatically deleted. And put onto the TP list.

Hence, the 4-8 diffuculty req's only. I posted that in my list before.

For example:

Take Me Back
(6) AAA
(5) 3 or less
(4) SDG
(3) 15 or less
(2) 25 or less
(1) Full Combo

The person at the top of the ATP list would be the guy who has gotten the most ATPs without making the TP list, and if TP requirements were made into high point ATP requirements then it could probably represent the best ATP player well without the top ATP players being too close in points. Perhaps the cut-off could be lower than 160 tier points, but that's probably where it should be as this could be a good way of showing who is close to making tier 4.

Uh, that's the point, basically anyone should be able to get ATP points.

And I like the idea of an inactivity clear on the ATP list. Helps ward off multis.

"Mastered the ATP system = 1 TP and removal from the ATP system"

Also, it would be interesting if there could be a formal tier option in profiles. If you could set, like regions, your skill level from beginner up to guru and master, and then it would be easy to see who should and shouldn't qualify for tourneys, point systems, etc. You could put a minimum account age/games played on being able to set your skill tier to ward off people making beginner multis to wreck tourneys (Though I mean, they already can, so even a not very effective stopper is better than nothing)
