    Fundamental problem with Skill Tokens

There is only one Flash Flash Revolution in the whole world. There are
other similar things of course, but only one FFR. It's something that has
brought joy into many, many people's lives, and for what it is, it's
    beautiful.

But, it's far from perfect. Currently, an aspect of FFR is a source of
frustration in my life; a negative influence on my being. That is the skill
    token system.

I really love the song Clash at the Mountains, a remix of a song from
Link's awakening, which was recently added to FFR as a skill token. It
would make my life a little bit happier to be able to play this song, and
I'm sure it would others as well, but the thing is it's really, really hard
to unlock. As I'm writing this, only 164 people have it, out of 1.2 million
    members!

I plan to continue playing FFR indefinitely, so hopefully I'll continue to
improve, but right now there's abolutely no possibility that I'll be able
to unlock and play this token.

I'm sure the people who put their time and effort into FFR want it be the
best entity that it possibly can be, and that it improve people's lives as
much as it can. So why deny people the simple pleasure of playing a song,
just because they don't have to skill to unlock it? It almost seems cruel.

Of course on the flipside of this is the perspective of those who can
unlock all of the tokens, I don't want to undermine their efforts, but
    right now they're the minority.

One possibility is that when you pull off a skill token requirement, you
get a "token" honoring the achievement in your profile, and then you get
your choice of a song from the skill token list. Any other alternative
ideas are welcome. But I think that ideally, all songs should be available
to everyone in some way or another.

That's about it. I just hope that what I've expressed here will be taken
    into account.

    Thanks.

Re: Fundamental problem with Skill Tokens

Although I agree that it is frustrating to not be able to play a song you really
want to play but the point of skill tokens is to get a reward for being
skilled. If you really want to play it and you don't care about this system then you can
ask the simfile artist for it (not extremely likely that you'll get it but you can
    try).

I don't think it's fair to compare how many people unlocked this token to how
many people are on the site (a better comparison would be how many
actually play). Of the ~1.2 million, how many play 5+ hours a week?
I'm sure with all of the statistics that are now available it
would be easy to tell whether a skill requirement is only available to the
    top echelon or not.

I admit, there are some tokens I wish I could get but I'm going to keep on
trying until I do (that is, if I ever play again), but I don't regret not being able
to unlock some of these songs, I hadn't earned it.

I don't know about picking and choosing a song to unlock, that gives the
reqs little meaning. Maybe if it would let you play a song of your choice
just once (like a boss song).

However, I like skill tokens the way they are.

Re: Fundamental problem with Skill Tokens

The tokens are an incentive to keep playing the game until they are good enough to get the song. I know it's frustrating but it's just something that in the end is going to improve our skill. I find skill tokens also really do make me play the game as it replaces a story in making me want to get better and "beat" the skill tokens.

I'm not even really focusing on skill tokens right now(except for the ones I know I can get), I'm just trying to AAA every song that's Standard and under. =3

          Same here

I think the token system should stay the way it is.It's impossible to please everyone to 100% since the lower end players will be frustrated because they can't unlock any, and the veterans will be pissed because they didn't work hard to get them. There are supposed to be near-impossible challenge tokens so that people like darkshark, newblue or Rebirth can say "hey, this is kind of hard to do." It is also the reason some people play 5 hours instead of 45 minutes of FFR in a day.

What about those AAA requirements ?
I mean it's been a pain for me to even try to get one.
I've been playing this game for around 4 years (other accounts) and I got to be alright in skill so far.
              Yet, I've never AAA'd a song.
FFR is internet, internet lags, it's slow. Compare the scrolling speed of the arrows in FFR on three different computers and you'll see huge differences a lot of the time. Some of us may have the skill to do them, their browser and computer just won't let them.
And come on, some people could be humbly living in a place where there isn't another computer around and they may have the skill for them, but they'll never be able to get them. Think about it. And also a lot of the files, though they're really really good, are really offbeat. And I mean sure it requires more 'skill' but that's just getting a little bit into the absurd..
There should be a req that states when making stepfiles the arrows should be as perfectly on-beat as possible.
I've seen some new files that made me say, "Ok sorry but this is too offbeat, can't even enjoy this.."

              I mean listen !
              Skill tokens !
Hit arrows to get them !
I'm not an admin or a manager, so I can't come up with them, but I'm sure there's gotta be at least thousands of requirements that can be made up to get tokens instead of AAAing or getting 1 1/2 goods or whatever.. > <'

The sim artists' are originally intended to try to get the arrows as on sync as they possible can, sometimes the game might do something to the songs.

We're trying to see and find out if we can do something to this, not asking for someone to tell us to stop crying. I couldn't care less about skill tokens myself but it does get to me when others that have the skill try and can't do it because of reasons that aren't their own.
..Appreciate your comment, but I don't think that's really needed.

Even though I think the current SToken requirements system works perfectly fine, I actually have a pretty decent idea.. That is, if they could possibly get the shop working again:

Based on the difficulty of unlocking a certain skill token it could cost a certain amount of credits for like, 3 plays. For example, say you can't get 40 credits on a song, but you really want to play UNknown Girl, you could pay 400 credits, and then play the song 3 times.. Then, once you unlock it, you never have to pay for it again.

Although, I know this idea will never go into effect, because that would require the FFR Shop to be working, and it would destroy the purpose of skill tokens xD
