The problem I have with Tier Points is that I don't know where I stand, and only the very top players are recognized. I like to have that challenge of moving up one more rank, and one more rank, even if I'm not good enough to compete in the top 100 or even 1000.

It doesn't matter who would be number 1, because everyone would know how far away they are from that and could try to get up there, rather than us currently just assuming we can't.

        FFR Average Rank: 3,164
That's low enough that you should be able to get into a top 1000, I'd think.

Well, if there's 45 in the top 100, that's 45%, so 45% of 3,164 is 1,423. I know that wouldn't be the exact number, but is probably a good estimate. This isn't all about me it's also about those people who can't even get close to 1000.

There's an idea like adding up
            # of 9 points req x 100
            # of 8 points req x 50
            # of 7 points req x 30
            # of 6 points req x 20
            # of 5 points req x 12
            # of 4 points req x 8
            # of 3 points req x 5
            # of 2 points req x 3
            # of 1 points req x 1
out of your best 30(approx 1/10 of all songs on FFR) songs.
just a bit hard to realize.

Yes, I'd like that better, since right now, one 8 point req seems much harder than completing two 4 point requirements.

Edit: or just make it out of all the songs currently on the list, just make it so the higher point reqs are worth more, like the numbers you just posted.

The problem of this system is, it's just determined by how good you are at combo based songs (mainly Guru's one).

For example, difference between 1,500,000 and 1,400,000 on Revo is a lot more important than the difference between AAA and 10 goods on Nova Pulser.

Comboing guru songs should be worth a lot, IMO. Really good at guru's songs=really highly skilled. As soon as shark got #1 on OMW, I knew she would be able to get tons of other great scores and be able to compete with the best players, assuming that was legit. Plus easy songs outnumber guru's songs so much, the different in timing on all the easy songs added up could potentially outweigh combo on guru's songs.

I've gotta pack, so I'll keep this brief.

Tier points, very good system, I'd love it if it actually applied to me though.

XB's idea, (bah da bah bah bah) I'm lovin' it. I'm ranked 683 in the Grandtotal system (which just tells me I'm a gamewhore) and as for level ranks, everyone who has AAA'd throws the entire system off, as someone who BF's an easier song is instantly hundreds maybe thousands of ranks lower, when there is only a 1 arrow difference.

XB, you really do have a great idea, it's a shame no one has thought of it before seeing as how the current systems don't really show where you are and most of the current flaws.

Re: New Way of Doing FFR Rank

Competing over rank shouldn't even be an issue until you get in the top 1000 anyways, or at least close to it.

I used to be in the top 1000 but I didn't play for a while and now I'm not. I understand that I have to work a lot harder to get recognized, and until then I don't think that I have the right to demand that things be changed just to make my life more amusing. Concentrate more on getting better at the game, and less about who you're beating, after having that mentality for a while you can trust me that you'll be in the top 1000 with some effort.

Re: New Way of Doing FFR Rank

Yea, I remember from Warcraft III that it didn't even rank people unless they were in the top 1000, and then it was this amazing feeling when I got there, and I could still pass many people just in one game or two. It started getting really hard to pass people once I got into the 200s though. I'd really like a more competitive rank like that around here, where I don't know that I'm eons away from the next rank like with the current system. I still think I'd prefer the sum of a player's best scores to any other system. Another reason I don't like the tier system is that it seems so jack based to me. Any song with tons of jacks is automatically worth tons of points, and anything without jacks is worth comparatively less. This makes me feel like it puts me way lower than I should be, just b/c I'm really bad at jacks.
