Chatroom Suggestion

Hey guys, I was telling Rebirth my idea and he said he liked it and to post it here, so here it is. In the chatroom, how about we get something that lets us know when "Screenname" Has entered the chatroom, and a "Screenname" Has left the chatroom. I believe it would be alot easier trying to track down if your friends come into the chat while your there, because as we all know, when the room is crowded, it's really hard to tell who enters and who leaves. Plus maybe we could add a buddy list? So that in the chat we can look at our buddy list and see if our friends are online? Or playing in a different game? Just my suggestion, laterz!

Interesting, yes a "name here" had entered/exited the room would be a nice feature.

I'm gonna put the link into the subscriber section so we can get more thoughts on this.

Sorry, but I'm not too fond of this idea. It would flood the chat screen because lots of people go in and out. It's hard enough to find what people are saying.

I agree with Shadow, at peak times, there is non-stop talking. Adding in the fact that there is always someone entering or leaving the room will no doubt cause a lot of lag problems for a lot of people. I like to go in and out of the playing rooms sometimes to see if I know anyone, and that would be annoying to have it say I'm leaving and entering the chat room like 10 times in a minute.

the video chat has this... and it is REALLY annoying, IMO. the windows are too small, and it is too difficult to scroll back up (impossible in MP)... having enter/exit messages would completely flood the MP lobby's tiny screen, making many people miss reading many things that other people have said.

so, if this were to be implimented, we'd need to have a much larger screen size for the room, and the ability to scroll up.

Is the video chat really this populalr that you have to be alerted when someone joins? You can't just look at the screen and see that they just came in? Keep in mind everyone on the chat is in channels, so just look in there if you want to know if someones on, if they are, then start lookin for them on the map.

Buddy list is a ok idea, but I don't really think the chat gets enough use for this feature. Yes I know how much use the chat gets, =p

in the evenings, there are usually 30-40+ people in vid chat. so, yea. it's at least as popular as MP Chat. only difference is... vid chat doesn't have any kind of inactivity auto-kick. so some of the people in vid chat are AWOL. then again, many in MP Chat aren't there to chat.

my question.....would it cause more lag if this feature were added? i get enough lag already so...i say no. i guess the buddy thing is a good idea cuz i'm always trying to look for certain people on mp, but again, lag?
