Using less resources and space for songs.

Since we are now inside a token era, and the fact we continue to get SOTW, it is becoming more space being used up than actually needed. We should only have the token thing once per month and the SOTW as scheduled, or vice versa and make it song of the month with tokens each week (preferably SOTW because of the amount of tokens that may come out). It would mean more time updating and research, less time making new songs, and overall, keep up server loads while letting us have maximum fun without stop making new songs.

This sounds good and all, but it doesn't take way too much effort to make new songs, as the people stepping them aren't the admins researching the site anyway. Also, most of the people that play really would prefer new songs than more updates.. Well, at least I think..

    Other opinions?

I prefer to have new songs comming out all the time. That way I keep comming back for more. Also for the extreme people it gives them the challenge they need to keep their rank up.

Maybe a change of idea here. How about the token song is released as a hard song and the SOTW is released as a easy to moderate difficulty.

Adding new songs doesn't take away from development.

It's not like Tass or Shash are coders for FFR, right? Furthermore, the simfile artists are also only contributing to FFR with their simfiles.

As for server loads: People will only play so much. Having a lot of songs available just spreads out how much they play. Yes, adding new songs makes some people play just to play that one song, but that's a good thing. If not for that, some people would NEVER play FFR.

I don't think adding new songs affects the server at all.

Think of it. You only load the song you're going to play.

If there are 10 people playing song A, it's the same thing as 5 people playing song A and 5 people playing song B.

That is exactly what I meant by "People will only play so much. Having a lot of songs available just spreads out how much they play."

There are people however that only play for new songs, myself included. But is it a bad thing? I'd say it's a good thing, because it can help keep people interested in the game itself.
