Sort of.
It's just one of the timing windows in the game (instead of a late average, you get this). I'm not sure if that's how it was meant to be, but that's how it is.4th Official FFR Tournament - Master division champion!

I always took it as like a "Good" on Stepmania. Still registers something other than a miss, yet it breaks your combo.
If that was the case it should happen below the note as well, and not register a miss on top of the good.
