Extremely Importan For All Ffr Members!!!

I have asked Synthlight to attempt to make a seperate version of FFR for the people who have dial up. Dial up is the SLOWEST internet on the planet. Some people are inable to update their internet, weather from location (being in the country) or financially unable. Using dial up, it used to take quite awhile just to play FFR, but now the new version is out, and it is INSANE trying to play it constantly.

I have asked Synthlight, and he said he would greatly consider it if he could get an accurate count of the people on FFR who have dial up. We need a percentage.

This version will probably not have as many songs (I was hoping for just the top ten) and will be in WAY crapier condition, so as to save loading speeds. Please help us out, and keep you votes truthful.

Honestly, in this day and age, most broadband/DSL internet providers are CHEAPER than dialup. You can generally get DSL for less than $10 a month, which is cheaper than dialup.

Also, it is expanded to most of the country, so unless you live in the literal middle of nowhere, you should be able to get it.

My opinion: Get broadband/dsl/something.
my 2nd opinion: play lo-res. That's the reason it's there, to cut loading time.

Ok, man I do not know if you understan what an insinuation is, but I stated above that SOME PEOPLE ARE UNABLE TO GET FASTER INTERNET BECAUSE OF LOCATION!!!! Can't you read? I live in the country. Do you think I or anybody else WANT dial up? Mostly every kid that I know who has it has it because of where they live anyway. THE INTERNET PEOPLE DO NOT GO TO PEOPLES HOUSES IF THEY ARE A CERTAIN DISTANCE FROM THE CITY, IF THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY. I CAN NOT AFFORD $300 FOR AN INSTALLATION OF INTERNET!!

By the way, low resolution (from my experience) only speeds up the actual game play. Now that the game is twice as big to load, it takes a long time no matter what, just to load the game.

Eh, I would say dail up users should play stepmania online and not FFR... cause they take to long to load songs... heh, i used to have dail up thats what i did... to download stepmania songs just leave computer on all night yup yup... good luck with getting a dail of version of ffr

I do not have Dail-up. Therefore I will not vote "Yes".

However I feel that Synth should help Dail-up users. I use to be one of them, and taking a hour to download something when DSL can do it in 1 min. sux bad. Please Synth, Consider it. They're not even asking for everything that's in FFR....

He could make a text version of the song selection, and when you select the song, it load only this song. (so there would be only the game to download, not the menu)
And he could compress the song to the maximum. I dunno if it's possible, but 1MB or 2MB/song would be good...

I dont think he can compress the song and it work...but All text would be great.

I'd like to see a DSL company who sells for less then 10 a month. lowest is 15 bucks last i checked and NO its not cheaper then dial up. dont even try to say there is a service for less then 7 dollars a month which is the lowest dial up ive seen which is also less then half the price of DSL.


Secondly low res is too small of a screen even on 800x600 resolution, and you can play low low res as i call it which means load up low res and make the quality low too by clicking the little tiny Q 3 times. unfortunately the song titles are not visible so you have to know where everything is.


I dont have dial up but i support dial up level gaming.

I used to play FFR on a 28.8 line. For a reference, that's slower than half the speeds you are on.

Not only that, but I'd download entire music videos on that connection speed. Took me an entire week to get a single music video.

I had the same problem too. The cable company (not "the internet people") refused to bring a line out to my house because it's isolated from the rest of the populated areas. We just continued to pester them and they eventually broke down and brought a line out to us.

This was three years ago. I've been using the Internet for ten years.

Honestly, it's not that bad.

It's a good thing I don't code for the site then.

Like I said, I could load FFR at 2KB/s. Most dial-up these days runs at 6-10KB/s. It's not a big deal.

I swear I saw a program that was under production (or at least being considered) that was basically an all ASCII rhythm game. Basically the same exact thing as FFR, but run completely with text characters on a white background.

No idea where I'd find it now though.
