Insanely implausible idea for far future FFR

All adore alliteration and assonance! Hehehe. Anyway.

I was listening to Spook's live broadcast, and the idea of Live FFR suddenly hit me. This would be INSANELY hard to work, but here's how I propose:

    Streaming stepfiles.

Essentially, some good player (Reach, Arch, Volkov, aperson, Nima, etc.) hears a live broadcast 5-10 seconds before it hits the rest of the world and just punch out arrows to whatever they hear. The rest of the world, tuned in, hears the music and the stepfile at the same time, and play for scores and high combos on a sort of marathon FFR.

I know latency would make it extremely hard to do, but, if it was pulled off, would be something FFR had that no other simulator could possibly hope to accomplish.

Creating a live challenge for other players? I'd like that.

That would be hard to create, but FFR being where it is today, I wouldn't be surprised if it came into creation...

That is a pretty insane and cool idea. I dont know how it would work...but it is fun to imagine.

If it did work it would ABSOLUTLY SUCK. OK, if you've made stepfiles you would know that a minute of music takes about 20+ minutes to get on-beat and fun to play. If they just did it by ear, it would not be on beat, it couldn't follow the rhythem because they've never heard it before, and no one wants to play a sucky stepfile.

Maybe if they heard the music an hour early and it was then streamed to everyone, problem then is it isn't live.

The streaming stepfiles would all be level 4 or 5. That way they wouldn't make mistakes in doing the streaming files.

Actually, the person making the stepfile would be able to do it fairly well. First of all remember it's going to be someone good (Nima, Arch, Reach, Volkov, etc.) Second of all, they would just start off with a simple beat before trying to make the beat fit the music.

Look at Crystalis in the Arcade section, for an example of what I'm talking about. See how it starts with just normal quarter-note beats for about 8 bars or so (if I remember right) until the arrows start following the music? That's what I'm talking about.

A person as good as someone listed above could likely improv a 7 or 8 foot song.

But then the person making the "streaming" stepfile could/would/might mess up and it's just no fun that way.

Well...its a cool concept, but it wouldn't work. Like the other guys said, latency would be a huge issue, and the stepfiles would probably suck. Maybe if they made the stepfiles in advance, and everybody was playing it for the first time while it was streaming...that would work, maybe. It could be a contest or something.

You could start out with a level 4 or 5 piece to practice making a streaming stepfile. When you get good about being creative, then you move up.
