    About moderation requests/updates, etc.

Yes, there are some problems with the chat spammers, flashers, etc., but we are currently working on these issues the hardest we can. FFR is a total free-will responsibility - no one is paid to be here, so when life beckons them, they have no obligation to be forced to moderate, update, whatever. What this means is:

    1) It is impossible for a mod or admin to be in the chatroom, multiplayer chat and forums at the same time with full focus or be available at all times.

    2) I would guess Synthlight, as well as any other developer, is going to deal with family, work and personal matters as a higher priority in FFR. Thus, yes, the multiplayer chat can be quite an annoyance, but nothing can really be done until the dev team has some spare time to implement protection and moderation features.

In other words, yes, we know there are problems with spammers and people just generally being dicks, and that means we are plotting ways to remedy the situation. What that doesn't mean is:

    1) We do not need 1,000,000,000 topics in the forum pointing out the chatrooms are out of control. I'm not denying that the issue sucks and people should have a little more courtesy, but the topics are getting a little out of control. We are doing the best we can with what we have and until new methods are discussed by the team as a whole and agreed upon, we might be able to make some leeway with new options.

    2) DO NOT ASK TO BE A MODERATOR! As with any forum, the best way to NOT get chosen to be a moderator is to make topics asking to be a moderator. If we need new moderators, we will announce that fact and take applications, bribes, whatever - then we would be glad to hear from you on the issue. If we feel you are moderator material, we will contact you - not vice versa.

Who knows - maybe a method we will look at is in fact getting more mods. If it is agreed upon, we will seek some more help. I'm not saying it's not a possiblity we're short on mods, but constant threads about asking to be a mod just aggrivates the matter and, as I said with any thread out there, asking does not improve your chances to become a mod.

In conclusion - we know about the issues. Since I have cleared up a lot of time on my schedule, I will be around A LOT more and will take it upon myself to get some input on the issue, catch up on some things and see what all of the other mods and admins think. When I find out more, I will be sure to let everyone know.

    Thank you,
