Sometimes when I hit a step, it will fail to disappear, and consequently be counted as missed as well as hit. You can see this in the scoring screen, for example, from the Mario level, I just got 155 perfects, 17 goods, and 3 misses. That song has only 174 steps, but 155+17+3=175.

I'm guessing that you got one of the arrows on a jump and missed the other one. That is the only thing that I can think of. Try it again and post a screenshot of you score.

That happens if you hit it a little too late. It's a known bug.
