I don't really like Linkin park.... and I don't think their songs would make the hardest stepfiles. Man, if you want to make insane stepfiles, get songs from Symphony X!

i am in the process of getting permission from a local band
they are really good, thire "manager" aka dad, wants money, but i told him "its basicly free publisity, 10,000 registerd users"

Also say that the actual MP3 is nondownloadable from the game, so they would not lose potential money.

That would be your only chance for big bands and Corporations (e.g. Konami artists).
