Add a literacy test.

This prevents newcomers from entering saying "yo wastup any1 els azn her n wan 2 ch@ aim me : Xxsup4AzNb0Y69xX k bye "

Also, a literacy test would prove to newcomers that the FFR forums demand a higher level of keyboarding skill. We do not tolerate language as in the example I put above. Granted, we don't require perfection, but the basics are understood to be essential.

LD / Kilga / whoever is thinking of locking this, know that I'm not doing this because I'm a stuck up grammar snob. You know it's only going to cause flames and thread lockings all over when these people come in.

It's kinda a good idea, but there are some difficulties in doing so.

It would be very easy to do in PHP, kinda like how it is done in KoL, but it's very hard to code into PostNuke.

PostNuke is anal about MySQL calls, and if you don't comform to their coding standards, they just won't work due to the "kernel" (for lack of a better word).

This isn't really on the top of our priority list, but might be something to think about down the road.

Prevent tons of people from coming to the forums. Lots of people who could type fine would see it, think "What the hell, what kind of retarded forum is this" and never venture forward.

I don't aprove this idea at all.

The only realistic method is auto spell check function, which needs to be customized for FFR
though.

How about we change the words through the "bad word filter?" Then everytime someone types w00t and any1, it automatically coverts those phrases into English.

Or how about no one can see the real forums until they get up to a certain number of posts. Before then they have to use thee n00b forums that you'll make or something,

But then someone can just post stuff like "OMGZ!!!!11!! Wheeeeeee!" until they have enough posts to make it to the real forums.

Also try to be more easy on strangers who have difficulties speaking english like myself =)
