Replace Simfile Area with Video Area

The number of people who can make and submit simfiles is FAR greater than the number of people who can make and submit videos.

The video section will be abused for it's uploads. No doubt about that. I don't think it'll turn out too good.

I'd much rather have a simfile database WITH MODS/APROVALISTS. Hire a couple people to test the simfiles before they upload them. That way if they suck major ass, then they wouldn't be put up.

I tried putting Arch in charge of the simfile area but to my knowledge he never really attempted to admin or flag anything. It eventually became a mess. I don't know if someone else would do better or worse.

It's meaningless. Should the need come up to host a video file, people should be able to find a place to host it and share it with us. This should only REALLY need to occur once per person for the "proof" video. Only people like Nima, Reach, and Arch0wl ever made more than one that people cared about anyway.

Personally, I'd host the video file on my webspace (and I've done so before). But, that same webspace couldn't handle the 500+ downloads of one of my simfiles. Yours can.

I don't think the issue of keeping a video upload area clean would be a problem, though.

I say you get rid of both and make the site run faster. BMS is fine for sims, and if someone can make a video, they should be able to find a place to host it (except for Nima :P).

Hor hor to a video section. Very few people would use it, simply because not many people have access to the necessary equipment.

I'm with Privateer, actually. With the BMS database in existence, the one here is kind of pointless (except for Moogy :P).

well, from the looks of things, it seems like the only real advantage we would get from having this video area is being able to see Nima's crazy vids. yes, it would most likely incourage others to make vids also, but hardly anyone makes them as of now. perhaps something else could be done...

maybe Synth would be kind enough to host Nima's vids, and provide a link to them in brag board. that way we could keep the simfile db (maybe clean it up a little) and also be able to see the craziest of crazy vids from Nima.
