    Double Credits for Multiplayer

    21992's at it again, paying out of his own pocket to encourage more people to get into MP. (See R1 General.) True, the playerbase was decimated by the offline period. Yeah, I know, devaluing the credit, but there are some arguments for it:

    -Encourage MP activity and thus get more people able to get the Achievement Token for hitting Level 10. Apathy towards a game mode is just as good an excuse as whining about anti-skill to change a token requirement. That is to say, it's a horrible reason.
    -Allow newbies to rack up credits more quickly (MP's raw scoring also has the incidental benefit of instilling good PA habits). Newbs are usually the ones to hop into prochat and demand an MP game while simultaneously hurting for credits--let's reward that.

    One possible objection to this is that the beta engine multiplayer was never really hammered out, therefore would-be MP players are stuck with Legacy. I think Haku said once that lag got worse as a song went on, and was exacerbated with each subsequent level?

      You know what? Even though there's annoying bugs that affect multiplayer (multiplayer text chat is badly bugged under Linux, among others) I'd be in favor of this.

      Of course what I think would encourage multiplayer even further would be fixing those bugs. I have a good feeling people just aren't playing multiplayer when it gives them bad lag or bugs out in other ways, when the single player doesn't have those issues for them or etc...

      For me, for example, it becomes unplayable because the chat text bug starts interfering with gameplay (perhaps can't select a song or bad lag or etc...) not to mention confuses the hell out of whoever I'm playing with. I'd recommend whoever's in charge to check how line endings are interpreted because that's a likely culprit for that one particular bug and make sure you handle all cases correctly CRLF, CR, and LF, or 13 10, 13, and 10, or 0D0A, 0D, 0A, respectively.

        One possible (but highly unethical) way of getting MP alive again is to ban any user who hasn't played MP for over 24 hours, and such a ban would be immediately lifted after the completion of one song in MP. *can only think of desperate solutions at this point*

          Reuben, please take no offense to what I'm about to say. I like you, man, and I want you to know it's nothing personal. But this is perhaps the single worst idea for the site I've ever heard.

                  ... Don't take this personally, but just exactly how desperate are you? Heh, no one should be forced to play multiplayer, and if they were, everyone would hate it, haha.... Then again, no one could hate it because they would be banned.

                  Myself, honestly the only reason I don't play MP is that it lags far too much for me to be enjoyable ( both Legacy and Velocity ), and there's usually hardly anyone online. Honestly, I think double might be too much, but I kind of am in favor of this idea.

                              I think that you should be forced to play a song in multiplayer every so often. If not, you should be banned until a song is played. Anyone else like this idea?
