For the purchased song "Party 4U - Cranky (holy nite mix)", is there anyway to turn off the background video? Its so hard to see the arrows cause the arrows are all blue and background video is flashing blue and white.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to turn off the BG. It's also quite frowned upon if you do, as certain players have done it with the videos on and removing it might upset them.

Although, I personally support removing the BG video. It makes some of the notes practically invisible.

The background is part of the challenge in playing the song. I know that's a stupid reason, but it only makes a good score on the song more coveted.

And why would you want to remove it anyway? It's freaking amazing.

I wouldn't mind having the option to turn off the background. I've AAAed the song as well as all of those really annoying synthlight songs and I believe they should still be fixed.

Would be nice if the background could be removed. Probably wouldn't even be a hard fix anyway, just remove the frames, or add the beatbox data and the stream-sound data onto a different file.

I just think that they don't want to replace that level for whatever reason with one without a background at this point. Although they are doing quite a lot of work on the site at this point, who knows what might happen in the near future. If they don't...I'll just be stuck with a high SDG on an easy AAA able song otherwise for a hell of a long time.

I think the reason a lot of the early files won't be fixed anytime in the near future is because doing so would mean that scores achieved on the fixed level wouldn't be comparable to the scores achieved before the fix. Thus, a score table dump would be called for, ruining the hard work of thousands of players.

However, I can imagine those same players who go back to playing the fixed level after the dump would be relieved to find that certain issues that stood in the way of a high score are now out of the way.

There is nothing wrong with the background, people just want it removed because they suck at the song with it and just want it gone so they can get a good score. Suck it up and earn you score with the real challenge the bg gives. =]

the only thing noteworthy about the file is the background video

the patterns are very easy. you can figure out what the 'invisible' arrows are through context. pay attention to what each section does

I think it would be alright if there was a feature to remove all backgrounds from songs that have them if when you activated it scores wouldn't record so you could practice it without the distraction.

No matter what we do with the bluenote and background songs, we're going to annoy -somebody- At least this way we have the knowledge that whoever is annoyed has ALWAYS been annoyed and can't complain that it changed for the worse :P
