From this, open ports 8080, and 8082 respectively. You may need to open them for both "inbound" and "outbound", as aperson explained. They may already be open, so check.
It's true. If you can't get into Profile Chat, you will not be able to log into Multiplayer, because they are tied together by the same server client (SmartFox).
I can't give you any other solutions, only other devs (Velocity/aperson) can try to help you here.
EDIT: If Norton is controlling it, add an exception to the site (http://flashflashrevolution.com/) and make sure the 8080 and 8082 ports are open in the anti-virus program.
Hm...what kinds of routers do you guys have? I think if you guys are connected through a wireless router, you might have issues as well.
EDIT: I'm offering suggestions that might help from here but I'm not saying with 100% certainty, so if someone has an idea, we might be able to figure this out.
If you're connected to your internet via your wireless router, you could try opening those ports as well. I too have a Netgear, so I might be able to help you out.

As long as you're not double posting, it's fine. We're all collectively trying to solve an issue here, so the more content we have, the better.
D-Link:
- Open your web interface and type "http://192.168.0.1" into the address bar, then hit "Enter" or "Return."
- Use "Admin" as the username and leave the password blank when the login screen appears.
- Click "OK." You should now see the D-Link configuration
From here, look for something involving Port Forwarding/Port Triggering. Open ports 8080 and 8082 for inbound connections.
I'm not sure where to go from here if this doesn't work though, and if this doesn't work, I apologize - my knowledge with networking/ports isn't the greatest.
EDIT: Open 8080 and 8082 for inbound AND outbound.
