When I started stepmania 9 years ago I started with 1 hand. I could never do anything harder then max 300 so I switched to two hands 2 fingers. I didn't reach limitations until 5 years later.

Now that I remember correctly way back in the day I started out spread, then later I made the mistake of switching to index. It is something I regret to this very day.

I originally started with 1 when I first came here, and wondered how people got such amazing scores. I ended up trying spread after about 3-4 or so weeks playing, and almost FC'd the Entertainer my first time playing that way. So I kept it...and I'm glad I did, because I can play so much better now than I ever would have with 1 hand.

I kind of regret not doing spread earlier. I can't catch up to the top spread players anymore because I started playing spread so late. Although I quit playing 3 years ago so that didn't help either.

Yeah I regret it so much now, because when I play index I can now full combo songs such as Vertex Beta with ease, but when I am learning to switch to spread my confidence in continuing to play in that style drops when I can't even full combo far easier songs.

2. All though i use a pretty odd set-up, or so I'm told, my left hand uses 3 fingers and my right only uses one. Have no clue why i started that way but I can't change it

Well those who don't play spread are eventually going to have to try and switch. That is all in my opinion of course, but I found that playing Index I just reached a point where getting even a full combo on most of the songs on here just seems impossible. AAAing is a different story since my PA is god awful anyways.
